Bodybuilding & Fitness Competition - Why Did I Drank Distilled Water?

Why did I drank over 10 liters of distilled water (usually used for iron and car batterys) per day?


Well, Bodybuilding & Fitness competition preparation requires many process in order to achieve the best form and as little fat and water in the body that human being can have.

Competition preparation is consist in several periods:


1. Off-season:


This is the period where you dont have and shows and competition, here you need to relax body, eat more food, prepare the body to what follows...

2. On-season


This is a period when the competition is close and we have to start with diet.

I usually take 3 months to prepare for competitions.

  • First I slowly cut down carbs and calories intake.
  • Then diets gets worse, you need to more and more reduce food intake, with almost 0 carbs.
  • Last month before competition is the worse - you need to be in real ketosis, without any carbs, and with some small amount of fat. In this type of ketosis, the brain is not functioning well.
  • Last week is even worse, a lot worse - You need to eat only cooked chicken, cooked twice becaouse you need to get rid of every natural salt which is in chicken. Of course, you do not take any salt. And you need to drink a looot of distilled water every day.

Why to drink distilled water before competition?


To have a lean and hard look on the stage, you need to dehidrate your body and because of that you need to clean your body of sodium. Distilled water is sodium free and with that big amounts of water, you will clear your body in couple days.

After that, I stopped drinking water 24 hours before competition, and it was summer so i dehidrated easily.
from 97 kg I fell down to 93 overnight.
But I returned it immediately the day after.

Also when your body is free from sodium, you can do better charging with carbohydrates.
Carbs charging is important for muscle volumen, size and hardness.
About 2 day before contest, when your glycogen is completely empty, you need to eat huge amount of carbs, every hour in the period of 12 hours. But more about carbs charging next time.
