Has boxing become a money hungry sport?

After giving it some time and letting the fight between Manny Pacquiao and Jeff Horn sink in I decided to take some time out and watch it all over again.

After analysing the entire fight I literally kept coming back to the exact same decision. Manny Pacquiao was clearly robbed, and was forced to give away his belts so Bob Arum can make a new cash cow and generate greater revenue in upcoming title defending fights.

It's clear Bob Arum feels Manny Pacquiao has come to a lofty and lengthy end but could not afford him losing his belts to a fighter not promoted by himself, therefore he needed to create another fighter from nothing into something for future bouts with great fighters. However I think this was a massive mistake and if a rematch happens Manny Pacquiao will easily win.

Jeff Horn has no skill and no class, he would be meat for Errol Spence, Thurman would knock him out, Porter will kill him and Even Kell Brook will give him a boxing lesson to remember. Yes Horn fought well and we can say Manny underestimated this fighter, going in unprepared with someone they have zinc if not limited knowledge about. However there was no way Horn had one, no one who has an inch of boxing knowledge felt he won, Jeff should have been deducted points at least twice and Round 9 should have been scored a 10-8.

I like many analysts of the boxing game scored the fight at 117-112, many of you will agree with me but less will disagree however im open to listen a discuss this with you. It was a terrible decision for boxing, it shows there is zero trust in the sport, fans are fed up and this should never have happened

Peace!

Happy steeming loved ones kindly share your thoughts!

Actually to be honest, I have always thought boxing championship has always been rigged for money hungry (especially gamblers). We saw it in the movies like Rocky now we see it real life.

It's happened twice to the same fighter, kinda feel sorry for him.. we seen it on countless other occasions and it's terrible. I guess the fans don't always get what they want

For a boxer who stood firm for his faith and his believes, a righteous person on many's eyes, he eventually becomes a targeted torn at the side for those people in the dark who wants nothing but money rigging, so to speak, wouldn't you agree?

I personally feel it was purely to do with money and a little to do with faith, however I wouldn't disagree that Manny is a very humble guy so would let the corruption slide regardless if he would see it. And that in itself played a massive role in having him stitched up.

I would have thought both ways. Because people who gambles does not like anyone who will now bow down to corruption.
I did not watch the match but some people said he did really good and looked like an obvious rigged game.

Was a joke, people weren't atall happy in the Philippines, hes literally a national hero here.

I support a lot of boxes I really like and love talent, yes Manny Pacquiao is aging but he still one of the most experience and class fights around in his division and would give anyone a run for their money.. I think he was robbed and it was disgusting.

He might not have as much power now but he still controlled the fight.

Great insight. I'm myself a boxing fan I have believe strongly that boxing has slipped further and further away from its core. Case in point, the upcoming fight between Mayweather and McGregor. There shouldn't be any question as regards to who will win that fight, no matter how good of a MMA boxer McGregor is. Clearly the fight is a big promotional money making machine that unfortunately shows how promoters are getting desperate to keep the sport interesting. Hopefully boxing will go back to it's pure core after that debacle. Look forward to reading more from you!

That's going to be one crazy silly and absolutely absurd fight to watch. But I'm looking forward to it, see it's not so bad if they wanna make money from a fight but robbing another boxer to generate more long term... It's disgusting and has been happening for way to long

Boxing may aswelll sign a contract with WWE and have people like Anthony Joshua against the Great Khali lol

Lol I wouldn't be suprised if that happened, that's silly but crazy

Its profession and a passion. If you love what you doing, then money will follow.
