#7 NBA Basketball Surprises week 7 ( Haas News)

in #sports7 years ago (edited)

Welcome back to the NBA weekly Surprises! The season is shaping up more and more. For some teams the season is in danger already or they have to decide to tank. For other teams the season is of to a great start and other teams will reach the play-offs after a long absence. Luckily every week there are players that surprise me. Here are this week’s stars!

Fred van Vleet
The Raptors needed to extend some heavy contract in the off-season and Lowry and DeRozan got paid some good money. Because of the big contracts there was less money to keep valuable players on the roster like Cory Joseph, they decided to part ways and were looking for who would be the best backup point guard this year.
There are two players that are battling for that spot Delon Wright who is injured right now and Fred van Vleet.
This week’s nomination goes to van Vleet, scoring 13 and 16 points leading the Raptors to a 5 win streak.
He plays with confidence and has good fundamentals because of his four years in college. Keep it up Fred

Nikola Vucevic
Orlando Magic started the season very strong and hopeful, but they are only 3-7 on the last 10 games. They are only a few wins outside the play-offs spot, but they really need to get themselves together again.
This week they were 2-2 and got real strong play out of Nikola Vucevic. He together with Aaron Gordon really need to lead the team towards a winning direction again.
This week Vucevic did everything he could scoring 34,10,22,21 points and 12,8,16,17 rebounds. Some really nice stats, only they need more wins! But congrats to my player of the week Vucevic

David West
What do you need when you go on a 6 game road trip and half way your best players gets injured? You need leadership, determination, skill and consistence performing. The Warriors ended up winning al 6 games on the road trip and got all off the above of David West. The former All-Star is setting the tone and has a very important role within the team. This week his minutes went up due to the injury and he I willing to do whatever the organization need from him to win. Scoring his go to jump shot grabbing some important rebounds David got you covered! Well done old men!

Alec Burks
The Utah Jazz are preforming very well, as we all know they lost Hayward and lack star power. So you need people to step up and team play really helps. Rodney Hood is out with an injury and Donovan Mitchell Mitchell made it to the list last week by his strong performance. This week Alec Burks stepped up. Even though the Jazz lost two games in a row they are still in the 7th seed in the West, doing is without an All-star.
Alec averaged 18 points this week and helped to destroy the Wizards by 69-116! If only Utah was a designated Free agent hot spot.

Davis Bertrans
The Spurs are the Spurs, that means 18-8 and many players being a part of Pop’s system. If you can earn 21 minutes in his system you must doing thinks the right way.
Betrans is shooting well, spacing the floor for the star power to be successful. And is low maintenance as well.
Scoring almost in double figures for the week! Not bad for someone who misses a piece of his vinger!!

Vucevic is truly talented, but the coach seems to keep his minutes consistently under 30 minutes. Understand the move towards small-ball, but it's pretty frustrating to see coaches keep their best players out of the game simply bc the other team is playing small. Can't a big traditional center like Vucevic take advantage of his small defender, moreso than his liability on the defensive end? We think so, do you? Small-ball is overrated, no?

Shooting is more important! but I like the Pelicans because they decided to not follow the trend. I think the Magic have too good many big men, Gordon anBiyombo. Gordon has more reach

Glad that you mentioned Bertrans, he is doing great job this year.. We will see what the near future will bring, excited to see the first five teams by Christmas on East Conference.

I have an NBA account so i can watch all games, had a season ticket of the Raptors when i was living in canada for a year and a half, so try to watch them, also enjoy the Warriors because of the way the play, when i was younger i was fan of the Utah Jazz.
What about you?
