One Handed Guillotine Choke Finish in the Expert Division. (2 Matches both finished by Guillotine)
Nick Giordano is a monster of a grappler, a Black Belt under Joseph Capizzi (featured before on this Blog), and fierce competitor, dangerous from every position. Dr. G below, center of the International Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Federation (IBJJF) Podium.
Nick Giordano got the name Dr. G aka Dr. Guillotine because he is literally a doctor and his guillotine is performed with surgical precision! I find it very impressive that with the rigorous schedule that doctors keep between taking care of patients and staying up to date on their craft, that one could simultaneously train to become such a high level martial arts practitioner as well. When Dr. G gets a hold of your neck in competition from any position you can bet your bottom dollar that the match is over. The good news is that after he destroys one of your limbs, he can reset the bone and send you on your way with a prescription. All joking aside Nick has some serious accolades:

In the Video below you can take a look at Dr. G's handy work. Dr. G circles his opponent cleverly baiting his opponent to shoot by stomping his foot and standing up just a little straighter than a grappler should. After tapping his opponent on the head several times and presenting his legs as a target, his opponent takes the bait and shoots the double on him. Nick expertly locks up the guillotine and it was just a matter of time once his connected his hands.
In the Video below Dr. G stands up in his opponents guard and begins to pass, then baited his opponent to try to sweep with a single leg. His opponent goes for the bait and Nick sinks in the Guillotine, rolls his way back to the top and finishes his opponent.
I first met Dr. G years ago when I lived in Staten Island, he was a brand new Purple Belt and I was a White Belt, both of us were training at Renzo Gracie Staten Island under Joseph Capizzi (featured on this blog before). Nick was an excellent training partner, always offering tips and explaining things to us lower ranks. You could tell even then that Nick would be a champion, he always stayed after class to get more time in drilling and rolling. I learned a great deal about Jiu Jitsu working with him (mostly how to protect my neck better), and although I love the gym where I train now, I miss my days training in NY with Nick and all the great people over at Renzo Gracie Staten Island.
