Masters Week – Tiger back in full swing -- what it means for the game of golf

Tiger is Back -- will he reach the winners circle again??

The Masters tournament is one of golfs most prestigiously renowned events, just like the Wimbledon of tennis or the World Cup of soccer.

Augusta National, located in Augusta, GA is one of the most pristine courses and it sets the stage perfectly for such a high quality event, such as the Masters.

With Tiger Woods back in full swing, no pun intended, the game of golf is really in a fantastic state. Since Tiger’s return from his major back surgeries, he has been playing the strongest golf we have seen in years.

With Tiger’s game at such high levels, when compared to his mediocre showings before his major back reconstruction, he brings the flavor and spice back to the game from when he was the focal point of golf.

It's Good for the Game...

He simply brings in so many more people, just because he’s, well y’know--Tiger Woods. Golf ratings have recently skyrocketed through the roof and a win from Tiger this week at Augusta would be the best thing for the game moving forward.

More eyes, ears and overall attention would be drawn toward the game itself if a Woods’ win resulted from this week at the Masters. For any of those that think otherwise, well, let’s be real, they must have their head pretty far up their rear-end to be thinking this sort of nonsensical B.S.

The game has really had a shift in focus since Woods fell on the face of the earth. Many young, rising stars have now paved their way into the spotlight as potential game changers, similar to that of a young Tiger Woods in his heyday.

Will there ever be another Tiger??

But, again, let’s be real – there will never again be someone as influential as Tiger Woods was for the game of golf. He was more than just the world’s best golfer for a whopping 683 weeks, he was a cultural phenomenon that brought an unseen flavor to the game, which no one thought would ever reach the height in which it did.

With all of this talk aside, let’s let his game do the talking. In Tiger’s first round today, he posted a decent score in the clubhouse with a 73 (+1). This sets him 7 strokes back from the current leader, Jordan Spieth, who fired a low first round of 66 (-6). With a solid showing tomorrow, Tiger could very well put himself in contention for the weekend to try to win his fifth Green Jacket.

Even though I didn’t pick up Tiger for my Draft Kings event, I will still be pulling for him to win another Green Jacket and get that much closer to catching Jack Nicklaus in the major column.
