UEFA Champions League - Final Matches for the Round of 16

The last four matches of the Round of 16 in the UEFA Champions League are knocking on the door and will take place today and tomorrow, March 13th and 14th. Real Madrid, Liverpool FC, Juventus and Manchester City have already made it back to the second round and are qualified for the quarterfinals. The upcoming matches the next two days will determine the next four teams.

Tuesday Matches

The city of Manchester will welcome Sevilla FC on Tuesday (19:45 UTC, 0-0 in the first leg) for their match against Manchester United. This past Saturday, Sevilla FC lost at home to FC Valencia. Sevilla FC should not have any problems with Manchester United and an away goal would be enough to get ahead in the best of eight.

AS Roma will face Donezk at home (19:45 UTC, 1-2 in the first leg). The traditional club AS Roma easily beat FC Torino 3-0 Friday evening and remains on the 3rd rank of the Italian League Serie A. Will that be enough against the consistent Ukrainian top club FC Shakhtar Donetsk? The 3-0 away win Friday evening was impressive and no one can dispute their 1st place in the league. It will certainly be an exciting game!

Wednesday Matches

FC Bayern Munich travels with a comfortable lead to Istanbul (18:45 UTC, 0-5 in the first leg). On Saturday, Bayern Munich won with a home-high score of 6-0 against Hamburger SV. Besiktas SK face a very difficult match. The Turkish club is unbeaten at home for 39 games so far. Will this series be interrupted on Wednesday? Will Besiktas SK pull off a miracle in the loudest football stadium in the world?

Without question, the top match in this round is the clash of FC Barcelona and Chelsea. The return match will take place at Camp Nou (19.45 UTC, 1-1 in the first leg) in Spain. FC Barcelona beat FC Malaga 2-0 and remains unbeaten in the Spanish league. FC Chelsea has had a hard time winning in the English league this weekend, and have struggled the whole season. Nevertheless, FC Chelsea is always good for a surprise and that's what a top club is all about! A top game with two top clubs will surely be enjoyable to watch!

When and how will the CL quarter final be drawn?

The quarterfinals will be drawn on Friday, March 16 at 11:00 (UTC) in Nyon, France.

Unlike the draw of the previous round, the quarterfinal pairings are drawn without any restrictions. Therefore, there are no seeded clubs and clubs from the same nation and/or preliminary group can meet. The club drawn first has home right in the first leg. This event is scheduled for a live-stream broadcast with Sky Sports.

The first leg of the quarterfinal matches will be on April 3rd and 4th. The second leg will take place one week later on April 10th and 11th.
