Racing Champion Crowned This Weekend
This weekend is the season finale for NASCAR where the Monster Energy Cup Series Champion will be determined at Miami-Homestead.
The race is quite intriguing in that the big 3 – Kyle Busch, Kevin Harvick and Martin Truex Jr. – are 3 of the 4 competing for the championship. In this elimination-style playoff, it is fitting to see the 3 dominant cars from the season with a chance to win the crown. These drivers dominated the season, winning 20 of 35 races. The outlier is Joey Logano who made a controversial move in the final round of the playoffs to knock Martin Truex Jr. out of the way on the final turn of the final lap to grab the victory that sealed his fate in the final 4 to be able to compete for the championship. Martin Truex Jr. has stated that he may have lost the battle, but he will win the war and hinted toward retribution, which would likely be coming at the final race.
The big race is being held on Sunday at 11:30am PST and will be shown on NBC. Vegas odds put Kyle Busch and Kevin Harvick in a tie for the favorite spot at 11-4 odds. Martin Truex Jr. is at 6-1 odds, and Joey Logano is at 10-1 odds.
