NBA'S Real Problem

in #sports7 years ago

As much as I think the NFL is a joke sometimes, they have the best product in Parity. Look at the Playoffs, you had Jax who has been historically bad, the last couple of years, almost book a ticket to the Super Bowl. This I believe has to do with the draft. The worst teams get the best picks, unlike the NBA. If you are the worst team, you get the best chance at the best pick. In the situation I am going to reference that really doesn't come into play. But the fact of the NBA building these super teams, is making half of the games so meaningless.

Lets look at this game today, I actually put it on the schedule. Cavs vs Rockets. After the first quarter it was a 20 point lead, and then it turned into a 35 point lead. I had to turn it off, because it was so bad. For supposedly the best player in the world, LEBRON JAMES. Letting his team get blown out, on national TV. Instead of looking inward, like the NBA or Barkley and Jordan. He goes to twitter and starts trying to recruit the next superstar to help him win. I can't just blame him everyone is doing it. That is why KD went to the Warriors. The NBA is a joke.

Sort:

Agree with most of what you say @bigram13...but also remember this is January, and this is the Cavs. They go through something similar every January/February, then Lebron starts to care, and everything is alright in Cavs land. Regardless of what happens now, its fairly likely its going to be Cleveland and Golden State in the finals (although I definitely like the ball that Boston and Houston are playing).

Ya it was just a terrible game.

Recruiting was always happening. But James put it to another level with the heat move. Now its kinda backfiring on him :)

Ya, but it is a joke now. Hey I can't beat you lets play together.

👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻... So well said!!! I think that when you have the best on best the NBAhas a great product. The issue is that only 1/3 of the teams have enough talent to compete on a nightly basis. Other than the crappy Cleveland Browns in the NFL any team can win on any given Sunday.
So many times I have turned on the games Sunday and expected one outcome and then walked away shocked.
The NFL seems to have more control over talent distribution and player movement is rare. Especially with high talent players.
It seems that at times the players have more control in the NBA than owners and GM’s.

Another issue that I think sets these two leagues apart is the fact that when you watch an NBA game often you feel like the 1st three quarters are slow and the teams are going through motions and feeling out. Then the action picks up and the game gets exciting in the 4th. Although some NFL games can be boring the majority of the games have rising and declining action throughout.

I might be a little bias but that’s my thoughts.

Ya it is better to have all teams share the revenue too. NBA is not like that. That is a huge reason.

That makes a huge difference for sure. In the NFL to get guaranteed money you need to be a special player. Players with multi million dollar contracts have little to no security. They can be dropped in a heart beat. There is always someone nipping at your heels to take your job.

@bigram13 I'm still very new to the steemit community. One week now. I'm trying to put out good content but finding it hard to get a lot of views. If you have a spare moment sometime and would be able to check out my blog page I really appreciate any feedback you could give. I am really enjoying the steemit world and want to make the best of it. Thanks

I agree i miss the day were teams actually had to work together in order to achieve success. Now a days no one is loyal to their franchise and would rather pick up a solid all-star then build one from the draft. Example Kevin Durant i think he is an awesome player and great work ethic. Instead of staying in OKC and winning it for a smaller market he opted out to a now popular Golden State team which is now stacked.

Couldn’t agree more. The NBA has a real problem. Ratings are low this year and I do not see them getting any better in the next few years. They players all act like children and choose when to play hard or not. It’s tough to watch.

The Regular Season is meaningless to these guys. In a 7 Game Series, with multiple days in between to practice, a completely new team is reborn. The problem with the NBA is the Cavs will end up with a 6/7 seed and still make the Finals. Its just totally different.

The NFL is fun because its a 1 game do or die. Even though I hate the Patriots so much, the fact they are so consistently able to make the Super Bowl despite do or die 1 game playoffs is incredible.

The only thing that would save the NBA is implemented a 3 Game 1st Round Series, 5 Game Second Round Series, 7 Game Eastern Conference Finals, 7 Game Finals.

I live in Seattle so I’m not a fan of the NBA (RIP Sonics). But agreed most of the games are boring and meaningless.

Man, back in the day Kemp was fun to watch. Just throwing people threw the rim. Then pointing at them.

Yep. Kemp and Payton were fun to watch.

What do you call a bunch of white guys sitting on the bench???? The NBA. :D 80's and 90's basketball were intense. The Bad Boy Pistons were so rough on Michael Jordan but didn't get flagrant fouls. The Nba is so soft that players like LBJ and CP3 flop at really soft contact. Where has that physicality gone? Isn't basketball a man's game. I mean this girlie ball now!

Here you go, You never saw the old guys playing for a foul.

Steemit all the way.
