Steem-NFL Playoff Challenge: Conference Championship Week
The playoff contest is heating up as the divisional rounds ended in spectacular fashion!
It turned out to be a wild weekend for the NFL playoffs.
The Eagles survived a close, low-scoring game against the Falcons to kick off Saturday’s match-ups. The Patriots dominated the Titans later that night to make it to their eighth consecutive AFC championship game. On Sunday, the Jaguars and Steelers put up 87 points in a game where the Steelers refused to go quietly and repeatedly scored impressive touchdowns, but ultimately fell to the Jaguars at home. And to cap off the weekend, the Vikings beat the Saints on a 61-yard touchdown pass as the game clock expired.
So, the AFC and NFC championship games are now set. The Jacksonville Jaguars will head to Foxboro to take on the New England Patriots for a 3:05pm kickoff on Sunday. At 6:40pm, the Minnesota Vikings will be at Lincoln Financial Field to play the home team Philadelphia Eagles.
Now that we’ve gotten that out of the way, how is our Steem contest shaping up? Let’s have a look!
Playoff Challenge
Despite having 20 eligible contestants from the two regular-season contests (the Steem Fantasy Football League and the Winner-Takes-All), only 12 signed up for the playoff challenge and made their selections. Nevertheless, the contest goes on and the fun is just getting underway! For now, we have a leader in our group.
As you can see, @jonsnow1983 is the current leader. Unfortunately for him, most of his picks were from this past weekend’s losing teams. While he has enjoyed a 2x bonus for those picks, that bonus now ends and he has to start over with new selections.
On the other hand...
Oh...what’s this? Ol’ @ats-david is heading into this week with a full slate of 3x bonus players! It’s all about picking the right players...from the right teams! (Yes, I was saved by the “Minnesota Miracle” on Sunday night. Even I get lucky sometimes.)
Luckily for the rest of the group, I’m not eligible for any prizes earned for this contest. However... @jsock happens to have the exact same lineup as I do and has set himself up nicely for a potentially huge week. If either the Patriots or Vikings win their games this weekend, he will likely be in the mix to take home the post-season championship. If both teams make the Super Bowl, he’s almost guaranteed a victory.
Contest Rewards
At the time of posting, the total pot for this contest is up to 80 Steem Dollars. This will be split between the 12 participants as follows:

Both loses were shocking (Steelers and Saints) I'm gonna go with the eagles and Jags all the way! Hope they both get the upset even tough it's unlikely, especially with Angry Brady!

The Minnesota miracle saved me as well, unfortunately I only have 5 Vikings players so
I won’t be able to catch up to you guys but hopefully end up finishing somewhere in the middle of the pack!
If the Vikings win this week and the Patriots lose badly, I could be out of a lot of points this week and miss out on any multipliers for a majority of my lineup next week. And then you'd catch up with the rest of the pack.
Yeah very true! Maybe I should have went with all Jags players after round 2 to give myself a chance! I guess we'll see what happens this weekend. Its been so unpredictable so far really anything can happen.
Looks like the rest of us need the Patriots to lose. That would make me so happy, regardless of this competition, haha. Too bad I have just over 0% faith in Bortles
These playoffs have been quite unique! A NE collapse wouldn't completely shock me even though the probability is extremely low haha!

So far I've gone with a slate from the Rams and Chiefs, then the Steelers and Vikings.

I can see that would be helpful! Unfortunately I still have my Vikings players left over from last week. They'll not be so lucky this time around!
Please pick the Pats in that case. I cannot bear to see them win and then go on to beat the Vikings in the Vikings own back yard.
