Join SPL (Steemit Poker League) today! One more amazing project based on Steemit and why we must fight abusive selfvoting

in #spl7 years ago

I'll keep this post short because everything is pretty much self-explanatory. However, I must give a massive shout-out to @tuck-fheman and @bigpchef for creating a spectacular league of poker, in which people gather to have some fun even earn some SBD. The best part - it is totally free of charge as @spl is funded by the posts' payouts. There are two leagues at the moment (one for everyone and one for more experienced players), and tournaments gather as much as 50 people with as high as 200 SBD prizes. That is a lot. @tuck-fheman and @bigpchef created it all from scratch, and at the moment, I can see dozens of people enjoying their product every day.

Feel free to check @spl and join the league. Everyone from beginner to pro is welcome to join, and people are super friendly and honest in there!

I'll donate 50% of the liquid rewards of this post to fund SPL reward pool (I could donate 100%, but I need a new car badly) because I believe that we all should donate to awesome projects as much as we can even if it is a single penny or a good word! It brings me to the second topic of this post.

@tuck-fheman could use all his SP to upvote his random comments and gain some FREE money ("It is not wrong if it is legal, writingamigo") but he chose to use his power to create SPL which attracts new people to the platform and uplifts the spirits of the ones who are already in it. And he did not have to do it! He could just write some "I like ju veri mač" comments, upvote himself and earn even more than he earns today. However, what do you as a community member of Steemit think is better for the platform? I don't know tuck's reasons for creating SPL, but he clearly has a very strong amount of morality and gives back to the community. That much is enough for me to support him.

Yes, I agree that we all can do anything we want with our power but do we really want to become some abusive pricks who only care to make money by killing Steemit? Why cannot we decide to make money and improve Steemit at the same time? It seriously breaks my heart to see people draining the reward pool (whatever it means) without giving any value to the platform.

If you asked me why I don't create SPL of my own, my answer would be, "because I consider myself to be a writer and I believe my writing is pretty decent and makes this place better. Yes, I am an egoistic prick!"

If you would go even further and tell me how I cannot adapt to the system and only whine about making less money than others who upvote themselves, I would say, "I make more money after HF19 than before it. I am happy with where I stand right now! However, I can clearly see that this HF hurt Steemit and I don't like it. I want Steemit to succeed... because I am an egoistic prick who wants to make money from blogging!"

Making money on Steemit is nothing to be ashamed of. However, making it by destroying Steemit is plain ugly, and I don't support that.

So, people, take @spl as an example of how we can upgrade Steemit to make it something of greater value instead of selling our souls and dignity for some crypt0 cents. Please, people, I believe that we can have some honor in here and use this platform to create quality (whatever it means).

See you at the tables! You must join this league!

My hats are off to you @tuck-fheman and @bigpchef! Now, plyz upvote mi, i gyve moneyz to de poker turnament! I be good. #follow4follow

Rethink your values people!

Honestly, a legion of self-voters is not even a problem. Especially since it is impossible to stop (sock puppets, delegation, bots, vote trading) so all the more reason to ignore it.

This is the kind of organized shenanigans that do far more damage. (apologies for the self-promotion, feel free not to vote, but it's relevant)

Yup, that is also a problem. We cannot judge the quality most of the time, however, sometimes it is obviously too low not to be judged :D Circle Jerkers are driving us to new lows in quality terms

Thank you, sir. 🍻

You are most welcome! Thanks for the league!

Great to see! If people are interested in poker in a virtual world let me know as I have tables and some SBD set aside for prize money already along with some interested players. ~ @virtualgrowth

Nice! I believe many people would be interested. You could even talk with Tuck to maybe find some ways to cross-promote each other. I would love to hear more!

Yeah, it is a very lovely and live league. I bet no one expected to see it becoming so successful so fast.
