GIVE THE WORD FIRST PLACE

"And now, brethren, I commend you to God, and to the word of his grace, which is able to build you up, and to give you an inheritance among all them which are sanctified." - Act 20:32

As spiritual entities, it is pertinent that at all times, we give ourselves first to the guidance of the Word.

In the 12th and 13th verses of 2nd Chronicles Chapter 16, we read of the sad story of King Asa. The King had a disease in his feet and instead of seeking the Lord, he sought physicians and he died. The Bible does not imply that King Asa died because he sought physicians. However, it does imply that he should have put the Lord first.

It is expedient that before taking any decision in life, we ask first, -"what does God's Word say about this?"

"My son, attend to my words; incline thine ear unto my sayings. Let them not depart from thine eyes; keep them in the midst of thine heart. For they [are] life unto those that find them, and health to all their flesh." Prov.4:20-22

  • Attend to my Words- give heed to them- put them first.

  • Incline thine ears unto my sayings- Listen to what I have to say.

  • Let them not depart from thine eyes- Keep looking at the Word of God.

Why did God say you should do all these?
It is because...
"...they [His Words] are LIFE unto those who find them, and HEALTH to all their flesh."

I strongly believe that we will have a better society and indeed a BETTER NIGERIA if we give the Word of God first place in all our affairs, individually and collectively.

May the peace of the Lord be our reality!
