THINK ON THESE THINGS

On a previous #SpiritualitySunday publication, we discussed BUILDING THE SPIRITUAL MAN. The body (which is temporal and surely will perish away) seems to be receiving much attention these days whereas the spirit man - the real you - is neglected. How pathetic that sounds!?

One of the sure ways to get your spirit man in perspective is BY MEDITATING ON THE WORD OF GOD.

God's clear instruction to Joshua is still as relevant today to us as it was to him...
"And don't for a minute let this Book of The Revelation be out of mind. Ponder and meditate on it day and night, making sure you practice everything written in it. Then you'll get where you're going; then you'll succeed." Joshua 1:8 (MSG).

Meditation has to do with SPENDING TIME in quiet thought on God's Word. It is a reflection and at the same time a mental experience. It demands focus of the mind. Just hearing or reading alone is not good enough cos most time the truth can slip away- it can fade.

To meditate on God's Word is to subscribe to spiritual discipline. It is a discipline that takes time and intention, but one that brings benefit to the soul.

Meditating on God's Word builds one's Faith. Remember, the just shall live by faith.

"...but their delight is in the law of the Lord, and on his law they meditate day and night." Ps 1:2 (NRSV)

Did you see that?

Delighting in the Word of God is the central issue. If you love God and His Word you'll spend time with Him.
"Thy word [is] a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path." Ps 119:105 (KJV)

Meditation is pondering the Word in our hearts, preaching it to our souls, and personally applying it to our own lives and circumstances.

When the Lord says "the Word shall not depart out of thy mouth (Josh 1:8). He wants you to always talk about it.
"But thy shall meditate therein" - He means you should think on the Word.

"Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things [are] honest, whatsoever things [are] just, whatsoever things [are] pure, whatsoever things [are] lovely, whatsoever things [are] of good report; if [there be] any virtue, and if [there be] any praise, THINK ON THESE THINGS." Phil 4:8 KJV.

To facilitate your diurnal meditation on God's word, you may want to subscribe to good Christian devotionals like the Scripture Union Reading Notes (@scripture-union) and use them daily in your Quite Time.

Have an amazing day.
