My Lucid Dreaming Journey Day 53 - Figured Out a Routine That Could Work!
Natural Wake Up
This morning I became lucid 3 times! But it didn't last for long... Although I did possibly learn something from this experience and that's really cool! Let me explain.
This morning I successfully woke up naturally without the need of alarms. I woke up after 5 hours of sleep. I would like to wake up after 4 hours, but 5 is fine as well.
I stayed awake for 5 minutes, so I could wake my brain up just a little bit so I would become aware in my dreams. Then, I stayed still on my back and kept repeating a mantra in my head, "I will become lucid and control my dreams".
I kept doing this for good 5 minutes, but my body wasn't falling asleep and I wasn't comfortable anymore. So I got comfortable and laid on my side.
I still kept on repeating the mantra for like 10 more minutes. But I noticed that I'm just too focused like this and I can't possibly fall asleep.
So, I stopped repeating the mantra and let my mind drift off so I could fall asleep.
It didn't take long for me to doze off.
Then, I'm not really sure in what order it happened, but I did have one normal dream and 3 dreams where I became lucid.
When I woke up, I couldn't remember anything. I had absolutely no recall. But I trusted my subconsciousness and I told myself that I will remember my dreams.
After 10 minutes or so, I started remembering my dreams. But, I couldn't recall much anyways. I do remember my first 2 lucid experiences, but the third one is only an emotional memory.
Regular dream
My dream recall begins when I was going somewhere. I was talking with one of my friends on the phone and we were deciding were to meet.
He was with a car and he was close to me, but there was no place to park the car, so that's why were talking on the phone.
He kept looking for a place to park the car and I was walking forward.
Then, he saw his ex girlfriend and he got scared if she saw him. He was really worried, but I'm not sure why. He told me that he really doesn't want her to see him.
As I was walking forward I saw her standing at a bus stop. She didn't notice me so I kept on walking forward.
Right after that, my friend found a place to park his car so I walked there. I got into the car and he was still quite worried if the girl saw him.
I told him not to worry. I noticed he had weed, so I said let's light it up... Then, I don't remember what happened next...
First lucid experience
Somehow, I was in my bed and I became lucid. I didn't go through the usual vibrational state and things like that. I just became lucid and my dream world was as always my room...
I knew this, because I tried breathing through my pinched nose and it worked. For some reason, I got pretty excited that I got lucid and I felt my heart beating fast.
I tried to calm down, because I didn't want to wake up. I kept on breathing through my pinched nose with the hope that I will become more lucid, but I just opened my eyes in my real body.
"Damn!" I said to myself...
Second lucid experience
I don't remember what happened next, but I think I just fell asleep in seconds because I didn't move. Now, I was in my bathroom looking at the mirror.
Somehow I just got the idea that this could be a dream and I did the same reality check again. I was breathing through my pinched nose and it worked, but at first I didn't even realize it.
I mean, it worked, but I wasn't focused on that for some reason. I just did the reality check without observing the result.
After like 10 seconds I suddenly realized, "Holy fuck, I was breathing through my pinched nose and I didn't even notice it!".
I did the reality check again just to make sure and it worked again. I was happy that I got lucid again, but I woke up... AGAIN!
Third lucid experience
When I woke up, I don't remember what happened this time as well. I assume that I fell asleep in seconds.
This time, I don't recall the dream at all, but I know I got lucid. It's sorta hard to explain, but the feeling just carried over without the images.
I was in a normal dream, but then I realized that it's actually a dream. I became aware! But, as you might've guessed... I woke up AGAIN.
Well, I'm still glad I was able to become lucid so many times, even though they didn't last even a minute.
It's a learning experience and I'm sure I will be able to stay lucid for much longer if this keeps on happening.
What I've Learnt With this Experience
Like I've said at the beginning of the post, I did possibly learn something from this experience even though my dream recall was poor and my lucidity didn't last.
First of all, I now know for sure that I can wake up naturally without the alarm after 4-6 hours of sleep. That's a great time to wake up at, because REM cycle happens within this time frame.
I can go directly into a dream and gain lucidity, if only I could manage to make my body fall asleep somehow while I'm conscious.
Next, I've learnt that staying awake for 5-10 minutes is really great for me, because I'm much more aware in my dreams.
Also, waking up without the alarm feels way better. I was always tired from the alarm and my mind had no clarity so to say.
With a clear mind I can become much more aware in my dream state. This is only logical, because my body wakes up naturally, instead of waking up from shock because of the alarm.
And finally, it seems like repeating a mantra like, "I will become lucid and control my dream" might have some impact. I noticed this for the second time now.
If I keep repeating the mantra, I actually become lucid. I didn't do it before, so I guess I need to experiment with it a bit more to be sure, but I think it will lead to a lot of lucid dreams!
So, I might have figured out a way for myself to have lucid dreams often.
I have to wake up naturally in the morning
Stay awake for 5-10 minutes
Lay on my back and keep repeating the mantra
If I can't fall asleep on my back, get comfortable and continue to repeat the mantra
If I still can't fall asleep in 10 minutes, let my mind drift off
Expect lucid dreams to happen!
Now, I just need to figure out how to have a better dream recall and I will definitely have more lucid dreams.
I'm ending this post here. At the end of each post I'll include my first post (down below) about this journey as it explains why and how I'm doing this! (Full Post Here)
I Will Be Doing This Every Day!
The main reason I want to start lucid dreaming, is for self improvement. I've been reading a lot about it and studies have shown that you can actually improve certain abilities by doing it in your dreams. For example, if you wan't to learn a foreign language, you can practice it in your dreams. Since you're working with your subconscious mind while you're sleeping, you might find out that you know words that you were never aware of while conscious. It's really all up to your creativity to what you wanna learn and improve upon in your dreams. Is it basketball that you want to become better at? You can do that! Do you want to become a better fucker? Nobody is holding you back! Just make a nasty slut appear in front of you and do whatever you want with her! Apparently while sleeping, the neural pathways engaged in the activity are strengthened, and not only imagined or visualized. To achieve lucid dreaming, a lot of action has to be taken. Well... Some find it really easy to lucid dream, but most have to achieve it the hard way. It's really important to think about lucid dreaming throughout the day. This way you're telling your subconscious mind that this is what you're focusing on and what you want, thus it gives you the access to control the dream world. There are quite a few things I will be doing in order to achieve this goal! So, first of all, I will be posting my whole lucid dreaming journey here on Steemit every day. I will be writing down all of my dreams on a journal. A dream journal is basically essential if you want to achieve lucid dreaming. I will do at least 30-50 reality checks every day. Have a sleeping rhythm. That means I will be going to sleep at the same time every night. I'll also wake up at the same time every morning as well. I will also experiment with some techniques to induce lucid dreams. I won't look at any screens (computer, TV or even phone) 30-60 minutes before bed, because I've read that this helps a lot. For those 30-60 minutes I will be meditating. Talk, read and think about lucid dreaming constantly. Occasionally I will listen to lucid dreaming binaural beats and hypnosis. I will use an app called Awoken. This app is designed to help you achieve lucid dreaming. It reminds you to do reality checks throughout the day and it has a dream journal, which is where I will be writing down all my dreams when I wake up. I will experiment with the supplement called Dream Leaf, I already ordered it and I will use it when it arrives. I will take it only once or at most twice every week to see if it changes anything about my dreams and the ability to become lucid.
Tracking All My Progress!
So, like I've mentioned before, I will be tracking all my progress and I'll be posting about it every day here on Steemit. Also, after I achieve lucid dreaming, I won't stop posting about my experiences for some time still. When I achieve my goal, I will be writing down a lot of experiences that I have inside the dream world, and I'll experiment if it's actually possible to improve real life skills while sleeping. I set a personal goal to achieve lucid dreaming within 30 days starting today. I'm really excited and hopefully I'll be able to do that even faster than 30 days! This is not the first time I try to achieve lucid dreaming, but I never took it seriously and I was too inconsistent, so I never even came close to becoming lucid. But this time I'm gonna SMASH it and record the whole journey on this blockchain!
UPDATE: I achieved lucid dreaming for the first time on day 12
I will become lucid tonight!

I have never experienced this but all the possibilities you mentioned are mind blowing. Your mind still working as you sleep and skills to learn while your body rests. If this can be perfected and tapped it will be quite a discovery.
Yeah, find this idea of learning and improving shile sleeping very fascinating!
Really interesting blog! I have experienced lucid dreaming but in my younger years. I have never heard of that method of pinching the nose in a dream as a test/trigger, I may try that if I can become aware I'm dreaming any time soon. My method used to be looking at my hands, I don't know why but it would always give me the thought, 'this is a dream'. Thanks for sharing your experiences trendo
Yeah, looking at your hands is another way to realize it's a dream. I do that as well. I often try to count my fingers, and if I do it in a dream, It's basically impossible to count them.
Wow thanks for sharing your experience! I would love to try lucid dreaming but I'm terrified of sleep paralysis!
When I first started doing this, I knew I could encounter sleep paralysis multiple times and I didn't think I was ready for something like this, but actually sleep paralysis is as scary as we make it. I mean, it could be scary if you're terrified of it, because then you brain creates all these hallucinations to scare you.
But, if you don't even think about it, sleep paralysis is just sleep paralysis. Your body get paralyzed and that's it. Though, I never opened my eyes when in sleep paralysis, because hallucinations happen then. Also, I've read somewhere that if you try to move your body while in sleep paralysis, you actually encourage scary shit to happen, because it sends some sort of signals to your brain to create hallucinations.
It's all about the way you perceive things. We usually create blockages for ourselves to make an excuse why we can't do specific things. I'm not just talking about lucid dreaming. Most of us are scared of many things and it's holding us back, but it's all in our heads. For example, a lot of guys are afraid to talk to girls, but they ain't gonna get killed for talking to a girl. They never talk to a girl, because they are trapped inside their own head, they create an obstacle that doesn't even exist and they fear it. Just one example out of many :)
This is really cool. The fact that you are using this blog to keep track of your lucid dreaming journey and progress amazes me each time I'm here. I lucid dreamt a week ago too. I felt actually awake when I was dreaming and could recall every tiny detail of the dream. Was a surreal experience.
That's awesome! I wish I could recall every tiny detail... Something is wrong with my recall currently, because I used to remember my dreams quite nicely. Oh well, this will pass.
