Rainbow Connection & Ben Lee
This story seems a little crazy now that I retell it. Last year I was inspired to produce a film on spirituality and mental health. I asked Ben Lee if he would consider an interview and he said YES!!! I hired a camera crew in Cairns, flew to Port Douglas and sat down with Ben one on one (with 3 camera crew!) for a chat about his views on the subject.
Probably the most impressive part of this discussion was how the film crew changed during the process. I knew Ben was a deeply conscious being, and I knew that I could ask questions around the subject of spirituality. But prior to the interview the film crew & I were discussing the football and the weather, and afterwards we were talking about raising daughters in a male-centric world, and how man has lost touch with our connection to the spiritual. I was genuinely amazed by the affect our chat had on these guys. It was then that I knew I could make something special.
Since then the going has been slow.... I have done a number of interviews now, enough to finish my project. I just need to start editing. Note: I have never edited anything before!! So I put together this little clip as a tongue in cheek comparison of Ben Lee and myself to Kermit the frog, and how one inspirational and deep song from our childhood has impacted our lives. It was also a good chance to learn some editing skills. I hope you enjoy :-)

Kermit was my older brothers favorite muppet and he had a kermit puppet as a kid. My brother passed unexpectedly 12 years ago while he was living in LA, his friends shipped my family his belongings and his Kermit doll was one of those things, he had kept it all those years. So its symbolic of him :)

On a technical note, I found the volume on the clip with Ben talking was a fair bit lower then the clip before it and after it. So I found myself turning it up when he started speaking, then had to quickly turn it down again when it went to the next clip. Not sure what editing program your using, but there will be an audio level adjuster to balance it to fit the others and get a steady level. :)
Or that could possibly be some bug on my side? Not sure if others noticed it. Otherwise great work man and keep it coming! Have followed you and look forward to seeing more. :cD
I had another go at boosting the volume of the Ben clip, and re-linked the youtube video. So hopefully that comes through better :-)
Thanks for the tip, I appreciate it. I thought I had fixed it in my program, I turned up the volume on that clip, but the final was still a bit low in volume. But glad you liked it & thanks again for letting me know :-)

Wow, that's really great! I've loved the Muppets as a kid, though a lot got lost in translation (German), as I realized later. Still, a show with not only great humor, but also many really deep songs. If Ben wore something green, you couldn't tell who's who ;) Thanks for editing and sharing!

"The Rainbow connection" is a souls connecting song, Jim Henson in fact is the hero of my childhood, I grew up with the Muppets, with Fraggle Rock, Labyrinth, The Dark Crystal, so many values, so many lessons. I made a cover of this song myself some years ago myself I'd love to share with you, and I've met many other musicians that knew it, and so many sweet spontaneous jams around it. I've also heard those voices half sleep. A simple song with such a deep meaning.

Child in the 80s, so likely. About uploading it here so far I am super careful about covers, all I have done are just tributes but still just in case I will post only originals because once I had a minor scare on youtube once, they were installing the id system then. Now it is allowed and they place ads for author (fair enough, never have monetised any cover anyway they are tributes only), so maybe I will reupload it, it saddens me it is a bit hidden but was a heartfelt thanks to Henson. I may make an entry about my his influence (encouraged by this post maybe)and post it with a link to it maybe, but if you are curious enough to look for (rainbow connection Priscilla Hernandez) I am sure you will find it...
