SPIRITUAL FOOD 4 THOUGHT - CHRISTIAN CASTRATION vs. THE HEART OF GOD

in #spirituality6 years ago

Perhaps we need to consider some things...

Deuteronomy 23:1 states, "He that is wounded in the stones, or hath his privy member cut off, shall not enter into the congregation of the LORD." These days, millions of Christian men castrate themselves by paying doctors to "wound" their "stones." Interestingly enough, God doesn't change and He had a purpose to have such a statement recorded.

Under the banner of "Christian Liberty" many these days never even consider God's heart in the matter. Why did He have such a statement recorded? Who cares? Most aren't even willing to consider it. Since the verse comes from the Old Testament, modern Christians seem to distance themselves from even considering the matter.... yet their Creator and the One we claim to serve is also the God of the Old Testament.

I provide this video simply to provide some food for thought. Please give it a watch and then prayerfully and carefully consider.

It's so sad so know and this really exist amongst we that call ourselves a Christian. For I see no quality reasons to pay for you to be castrated. May God help us. Thanks alot @papa-pepper for such massage

God is the one who has the correct answer for our path and health

Interesting conversation, I definitely agree we need to look at the bible as a whole, and even in the nooks where we question its relevance to us. Maybe, we need to focus on those areas. Because absolutely, God made the bible for us, and the truth in the book is for all people, at all times, not just for a certain people or time.

The Word lives, and applies even when we struggle to undestand how it applies.

In all things... this quote is no exception, we are to trust the Lord, and where He leads, and the challenges He places before us. Go forth and multiply was a command, not a suggestion.

Just to check in with where you are at though, when you refer to castration? I assume you are referring to vasectomy, because I have NEVER heard of people castrating themselves, but certainly LOTS of men pay for a vasectomy.

p.s. this converation makes me think of Proverbs 3:5-6. And a fun song my kids, and I enjoy about that verse.

Proverbs 3:5-6 English Standard Version (ESV)

5 Trust in the Lord with all your heart,
and do not lean on your own understanding.
6 In all your ways acknowledge him,
and he will make straight your paths.

I assume you are referring to vasectomy, because I have NEVER heard of people castrating themselves, but certainly LOTS of men pay for a vasectomy.

Correct. I speak of vasectomies.

Thanks for sharing this.

Thank you very much!

Well, you are clearly cherry-picking verses that make your case stronger. Interesting you don't mention any of the other things in Deuteronomy that kept a person from the assembly, like having a grandparent who was foreign, or for some people/groups ten generations. What about some of the other laws in Deuteronomy 22-23? Should we follow this one?

28If a man happens to meet a virgin who is not pledged to be married and rapes her and they are discovered, 29he shall pay her father fifty shekels c of silver. He must marry the young woman, for he has violated her. He can never divorce her as long as he lives.

It's really important to consider the whole picture of scripture, and I think you are flat out misunderstanding what is going on in Deuteronomy. It's not about fertility, it's about completeness. It's about life over death. Further, you seem to miss that the Ethiopian Eunuch in the New Testament is a literary reversal of that injunction in Deuteronomy. Under the New Covenant, God accepts all who come.

It's great that you feel called to have babies, but you shouldn't take command given to Adam (mankind) and later Noah, the new Adam, as personal instructions for every man and woman on Earth. If you do that, getting married and having babies are required for salvation, or at least to please God. What about people who can't find a mate? Are we disobeying God? Should we get a mate the way they did in Deuteronomy 22?

What about circumcision? Is that genital mutilation? You say that God will provide for the children, and I'm glad it's working out for you, but where I'm from (not that far from you) lots of kids aren't provided for. Lots of kids are brought up in terrible conditions. Poverty is not solved by faith, no matter how much you want it to be. Sometimes it is better to stop having kids when you stop being able to provide for the ones you have.

Or, if you think God will provide always, I can get you a list of kids that could use a little of that provision. Got a few million bucks lying around? No? Oh well, I guess the government will take care of it...

I agree. Our bodies are of God's. We are to be fruitful and multiply also to spread his word. It is sad when Christians are having one maybe two children while people of the Islamic faith have on an average 8 children. We will be the minority if this continues. Thanks @papa-pepper
