Fake it Til You Make it: Manifesting Through Feeling

in #spirituality6 years ago

"Change your conception of yourself and you will automatically change the world in which you live. Do not try to change people; they are only messengers telling you who you are. Revalue yourself and they will confirm the change."
-Neville Goddard

There is this teaching I've come across from at least two sources now. Basically that we can manifest our desires by holding them in feeling until they become reality. So if you want to be healthy, you feel that you are healthy already, if you want to be rich, you have the attitude and feeling that you already are, if you want a new car, you feel like you already have the car.

This seems like a fanciful load of shit, but that's because we consider linear time to be the way things progress. Research in quantum shows that there may possibly be an infinite number of similar parallel universes, where each variable decision changes the setting of our life. The concept is, if there is infinite possibility, we can move into one of these parallel universes based on our own personal consciousness.

For example, if we are conscious of being healthy, the world will shape around us a healthy body, pulling the necessary external reality towards us as if we were attracting it. This can be done immediately, our consciousness can begin to change the world immediately, but in my experience this is very difficult to do because of the attachment to history.

History

Most of us reference history in our consciousness, which limits our possibilities. If we are constantly thinking "I'm out of shape, I've always been out of shape, I eat food that is unhealthy and have done so for years, it will take me years to get healthy, it's hard to find healthy food, exercise is work," then we have set the world against our goal of getting healthy.

Our agreement with history, that we are out of shape, solidifies the belief into reality. If the way that life works is by aligning to consciousness, then there is no reason things and appearances should not be able to shift immediately. Quantum particles have the possibility of being two places at once, what shows up is what we choose in our consciousness.

Affirmation and Visualization

Not referencing history in our consciousness can be quite challenging. We all have been operating in the belief that time is linear and our actions are what shape our world and cause the effects they bring with them. This type of thinking, that our current consciousness creates our reality, is counter to what we've been taught and conditioned to believe. There are a few techniques some authors have written about to help in this endeavor:

  1. Affirmation - Affirmation should be felt, first and foremost. Saying to ourselves "I am healthy" is one thing, feeling it is much more powerful in impacting things. Done before bed, these affirmations can keep working for us while we sleep. They should also be done in the present tense ("I am healthy" vs "I will be healthy") and with no emotional attachment. Emotional attachment would imply striving and hoping for the potential rather than knowing it as one possibility among an infinite number.

  2. Visualization - Visualizing the change using imagination can be helpful in convincing ourselves that it is possible. To do this we basically visualize how we would act and feel if what we desired was already true. So using my example of health, you might imagine yourself springing out of bed in the morning, ebing up a few hours early so you can start the day with a workout. Anything in imagination can become reality, I've seen videos of movie stars and athletes talking about visualizing their success.

Stay Present

One of the challenges is in being this new consciousness. The world around us could be showing exactly the opposite of what we are attempting to feel or be, so faith in spite of appearances is required. That's why doing the affirmations and visualizations before bed is recommended in a few different books.

Nothing is changing in the past or the future, because all there is is the eternal now. The only place and only thing we change is our current consciousness, then the world takes care of the rest. This mysterious element of the subconscious can cause us to give up on this idea. We aren't actually getting to control or choose the how of the change, we are just deciding on what we want.

When we don't see results and don't think it's working, we revert to our belief that something like this is impossible, which then makes it impossible to us. Holding the desired consciousness despite what the world is showing us is the key to results. We can't place a demand on the world or ourselves by thinking we know how the changes should happen, we have to release our control and simply choose our conscious state.

This post is kicking it! Nice job. I have trouble with that kind of positive thinking because another part of my brain always says “ that’s just a lot but BS, you know what the real situation is” so doesn’t work for me.

Ya, it's doing pretty well, the @sndbox-alpha crew has been liking some of my posts recently, pretty cool

you know what the real situation is

That's why so many of these teachings espouse moving into unknowing, then true knowing is revealed. It is really difficult in our culture to drop the history(or known) that we carry around with us all the time and have for as long as we can remember.

The real question is "what do I really know for certain?"

“Enlightenment is a destructive process. It has nothing to do with becoming better or being happier. Enlightenment is the crumbling away of untruth. It’s seeing through the facade of pretense. It’s the complete eradication of everything we imagined to be true.”
― Adyashanti

There are so many great points in here that I believe to be the hang ups for so many people when manifesting their desires. Missing these key points are the reason many call BS on this way of living. There's inner work to be done but it's so worth it.

I enjoyed this post :)

Thanks! I agree, there was a large period of time where I was doubting the above, and in that doubting I shut out any chance of changing things in this way. Luckily I had already witnessed it and life decided to bring me multiple sources saying the same things. Sometimes it's easy to get down on ourselves and our dreams.

Thanks for stopping by

Thank you. I read/studied most of Neville's books years ago and learned a lot from him. These days my passion also consists of writing about the true nature of existence.

Having been born into this reality of self-imposed self-limiting belief systems, one of the biggest hurdles or challenges for us is to unlearn what we learned from those who didn't know!

All the best!

Awesome, you are one of the first people I've ran into that has read Goddard

one of the biggest hurdles or challenges for us is to unlearn what we learned from those who didn't know!

I was just reading the Book of Truth by Paul Selig, and it mentions how the one thing that is holding us back is our attachment to memory, how we constantly apply our memory to the present moment, effectively repeating our past and removing the ability for change to occur. Once we stop applying our memory to the present, we open ourselves up to possibility.

I need to do some more work on this, I had some really powerful experiences applying Goddards writing in my life early on, then I started doubting myself and referencing the past instead of applying my own desired feeling on the current moment.

I'll follow you and see what you write

Beautiful post, thank you :)

You're very welcome, I'm glad you enjoyed it!

I think the same mate.

Our thoughts have the power to shape our reality as I think both of us have already commented in previous posts, and indeed, they can also change ourselves. That is why having a proper mentality is so important to achieve whatever we want in life.

I liked how you related this idea with current knowledge about quantum physics (which is a crazy subject).

Ya, after reading some of your posts and a few other users I've started connecting the dots between supposedly different subjects. It appears science and technology are coming to a meeting point with spirituality and psychology.

There is quite a bit we still don't understand, but I think we are coming to realizations that will clear up a lot of the mysteries that we have had for a while. Quantum is the first science that really corresponds with spirituality at a basic level. There are records from older cultures that describe a lot of the phenomenon in physics and quantum mechanics.

It might be, but we are just scratching the surface for the moment. There is still a lot of learning to be made

ugh it won't let me upvote you right now, I'll be back...

Does that ever happen to you?

Don't worry bro , do you mean like transaction error?

Sometimes it won't let me upvote certain comments, like a glitch where the arrow is unclickable

That's weird I haven't experience that, I use chrome and you?
