RE: Why Jesus Is Clearly Not The Almighty God To Be Worshipped.

in #spirituality8 years ago

There are 2 possibilities why it happened(If it so happened as to being worshipped with the same meaning given to "worship" of the Almighty God)

  1. The worship here means simply bowing down/kneeling/prostrate without the intention of giving the worship that is due to the ALMIGHTY.

  2. They really "worshipped" Him, but it is their responsibility to be WRONG or RIGHT in doing it.

Men, other men, will never nullify God's declarations. Whether they be wrong or right. "HE IS ONLY ONE". As you have quoted before.

Sort:

In the early Christian church, martyrs went to their deaths rather than burn a "pinch of incense" to Caesar. There is no such thing as "worshipping" in a small way some other minor god. The only way Jesus would ever let you get away with worshipping Him is if He were in fact the one and only God.

What IS NOT SAID..We can never know. Nothing was said in that instance. I wont insist on arriving in a conclusion on something that is NOT THERE. (REBUKE nor APPROBATION).

What IS SAID CLEARLY FROM CHRIST MOUTH IS THIS: http://biblehub.com/john/20-17.htm, His FATHER is OUR FATHER, OUR GOD IS HIS GOD. -John 20:17

You are of course bound by your own decision on the matter. NO ONE CAN CONVINCE YOU OTHERWISE.

Just don't forget whatever you decide. Christ has HIS GOD.

To reply to the comment right below this:

While the scene with Thomas can easily be confused as to being an approbation on WHAT THOMAS CALLED AND THOUGHT OF JESUS AS (ALMIGHTY GOD), it is clearly not so.

We all know Christ is a MIGHTY GOD. I believe that. I can call Christ as my God with that sense in my mind and still not break any LAW of God.

But actually, the issue at that scene is WHETHER CHRIST was resurrected or NOT. Which at that moment, THOMAS believed.

The scene does not prove Christ is equal and the same ALMIGHTY GOD which Christ also calls FATHER in John 20:17. -Sorry

But there is Approbation in John 20:24-29:

Thomas said to him, “My Lord and my God!”
Then Jesus told him, “Because you have seen me, you have believed; blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed.”

Remember: Jesus is also fully man, so when you see him making statements that sound like a man when referring to God that's because He is a man. When you see him referring to Himself as the Son of God (e.g. John 3:16-19) it is from His human perspective. When he calls Himself the Son of Man (e.g. Mark 8:31-32:38) it is from His perspective as God. He is both.

Jesus did not rebuke them when the worshipped Him which He surely would have done if it had been improper.

By comparison, look how angels react to worship:

Then the angel told me to write, “Blessed are those who are invited to the marriage supper of the Lamb.” And he said to me, “These are the true words of God.” 10So I fell at his feet to worship him. But he told me, “Do not do that! I am a fellow servant with you and your brothers who rely on the testimony of Jesus. Worship God! For the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy.” - Rev 19:10

And I am John, the one who heard and saw these things. And when I had heard and seen them, I fell down to worship at the feet of the angel who had shown me these things. 9But he said to me, “Do not do that. I am a fellow servant with you and your brothers the prophets, and with those who keep the words of this book. Worship God!” -Revelation 22:9

(John was a slow learner.)

Look how Paul reacted in Galatia:

When the crowd saw what Paul had done, they shouted in the Lycaonian language, "The gods have come down to us in human form!" Barnabas they called Zeus, and Paul they called Hermes because he was the chief speaker. The priest of Zeus, whose temple was just outside the city, brought bulls and wreaths to the city gates because he and the crowd wanted to offer sacrifices to them. But when the apostles Barnabas and Paul heard of this, they tore their clothes and rushed out into the crowd, shouting: "Friends, why are you doing this? We too are only human, like you. We are bringing you good news, telling you to turn from these worthless things to the living God, who made the heavens and the earth and the sea and everything in them.

If angels are this quick to decline worship, you can bet that a mere prophet would be even more quick just like Paul. Jesus never rebuked his disciples for worshiping Him. Q.E.D.

Read the book of Hebrews to get a comprehensive treatment of Who Jesus is.
