Those Crazy Crystals
Wow. It's been a crazy day.
A crazy month.
Hell, it's been a crazy year.
I wish I had more time to write Steem posts. On the other hand, I'm glad I don't. It's a great problem to have, considering the reason I'm so busy is because I get to work on such cool projects.
As most of you already know, Splinterlands recently gave birth to Dark Energy Crystals. And potions. And new cards. And skins. And new game token wallet compatibility with Tron and Steem Engine. Talk about an update.
Geez.
I was neck deep in UX, UI, graphics, and animations. I was drowning in awesome.
It was scary great.
Have you noticed there's huge updates to the game like every few months? This train ain't slowing down. It's just barely leaving the station. When it gets up to cruising speed, you better watch out. Put on your seat belts. Maybe even wear a helmet.
Have you guys seen the stats on steemapps.com?
Am I reading this right?
It looks like Splinterlands is responsible for over half the Steem transactions being tracked. That's some pretty solid activity. To me, that means people are connecting with the product. They're ENGAGING.
You don't just tap a few buttons and walk away...maybe log in tomorrow to check on some numbers.
No.
This is a game you PLAY. It's a game where you cheer, scream, curse, and rejoice. It's FUN. And not in a "I enjoy stamp collecting" way. Once you get going, you don't want to stop. "Just one more battle," you tell yourself. It doesn't matter whether you win or lose. You say the same thing again over and over. Two hours later, you're whispering "just one more battle".
I like blockchain. And I like games. So I've spent plenty of time trying to find worthwhile games to play. I've tried games on Ethereum. Games on Tron. Games on EOS. Heck, there's even one I've tried that uses Bitcoin Cash tokens.
You have no idea.
Splinterlands is beating them all in playability, fun-factor, accessibility, everything. The fact that there's so many more updates around the corner is mind-boggling.
It's not too late to be considered an Early Adopter. The game is still in BETA. It's an extremely robust and finely-tuned Beta, but still a Beta. Someday, Alpha and Beta cards may have an almost mythical respect associated with them. Go get more while you can.
I'm glad to be a part of it all.
Anyhoo. Just wanted to write a quick post, and this was the easiest thing to write about.
I have a bunch of potential blog content that has been piling up. I'm thinking I'll try to keep the posts small to make it easier to stay consistent. Of course, I tried that last year...
Guess I'll just have to try harder this time.
The splintereland is actually getting people to be more engaging on the block chain
Definitely!
Plus guilds are coming!

@nateaguila I really enjoy Splinterlands but at 3:30 am Local time I have been getting a Server Error and not able to Play. I am sure it is because we are getting another great Up Date..........
Well, that sucks. I hope you got that resolved (and maybe some sleep!). It seems to be running okay today.

I don't play the game yet, but thanks for all of your contributions to it and beyond. Is there a short list of what defines a transaction on SM/Splinterlands?
I’m not that involved with the back-end work, but I think it’s safe to assume that most transactions are a result of the marketplace (buying/selling cards), collection management (combining cards to make them more powerful or unlock abilities), and the actual battles (whether they be PvP or Tournaments).
It would be interesting to research what percentage of the total Steem blockchain activity is related to gaming. Once guilds are released, I’m thinking the transaction activity only gets higher. The social interaction makes a big difference. Something which I think will lead to progress in how communities on Steem interact and collaborate.

Hey Mr. Whale just wanted to know what this game you're talking about here. Ihave not heard of it. Is it new? Do you need to buy it with Steem? Or just a sign in?
Thanks in advance.
