Continuando con la serie Inglés para estudiantes, hoy analizaremos el pasado contínuo diferentes conjugaciones, comencemos.
El Pasado Continuo o Progresivo se usa para expresar acciones que estaban ocurriendo en un momento particular en el pasado.

Pasado Contínuo


Pronombres+forma (to be)
gerundio de verbo+ oración
Observaciones
I was
going to school yesterday at 8 o´clock in the morning
Yo estaba yendo a la escuela ayer a las 8 de la mañana
1ra. Persona del singular
You were
going to the university last Monday in the afternoon
(Usted estaba yendo a la Universidad el pasado lunes en la tarde)
2da. persona del singular
He was
going to the movies last night
(el estaba yendo al cine anoche)
3ra. persona del singular
She was
going to the movies last night
(ella estaba yendo al cine anoche)
3ra. persona del singular
It was
raining yesterday
(está lloviendo ayer)
objetos, animales o cosas (impersonal)
We were
going to Miami last weekend
(Nosotros estabamos yendo a Miami el pasado fin de semana)
, 1ra. persona del plural
You were
going to talk with your mother yesterday
(Ustedes estaban yendo a hablar con su madre anoche)
, 2da. persona del plural
They were
going to a baseball game last sunday
(Ellos estaban yendo al juego de beisbol el pasado domingo)
3ra. persona del plural

Oraciones afirmativas


Ejemplo I was going to school this morning (Yo estaba yendo a la escuela esta mañana)
You were going to the university yesterday (Usted estaba yendo a la Universidad ayer)


entonces la manera de construir la oración afirmativa con el pasado contínuo es:


Sujeto +forma del verbo to be + gerundio del Verbo + Oración
( S + forma to be+ V(ing)(gerundio) + O )

Oraciones Interrogativas


Were you going to school this morning?
(¿Estaba yendo Ud. a la escuela esta mañana?)


Were you going to the university yesterday?
(¿Estaba Ud. yendo a la universidad ayer?)


La manera de construir la oración interrogativa utilizando el pasado contínuo es:


Forma del verbo to be + Sujeto +gerundio de verbo+ Oración
(Forma to be+ S + gerundio de verbo + O )



Oraciones negativas


No, i was not going to school this morning
(No, Yo no estaba yendo a la escuela esta mañana)
No, Sujeto + forma verbo to be + negación + gerundio verbo + oración

No, we were not going to the university yesterday
(No, nosotros no estabamos yendo a la universidad ayer)
No, Sujeto + forma verbo to be + negación + gerundio verbo + oración


entonces la manera de construir la oración negativa con el pasado contínuo es:


No, + Sujeto+ forma Verbo to be + negación + gerundio verbo + oración
(No, +S+forma to be + gerundio verbo+O)

Contracciones




was not= wasn´t
were not = weren´t
