Carl Czerny, the father of modern piano technique

Here I am again, after my trip to Germany where I played two piano concerts in Hamburg and Bremen.
This weekend, while I was travelling through the nort of the country, I thought about the origin of modern piano technique. I also remembered my studying time (1995-2001) and my first lessons with my teacher in Germany, the Professor Kurt Seibert, who is direct heir of the German Piano School.
So, I would like to describe you the family tree of this traditional German School:

1. L.v.Beethoven, who is for me the greatest composer of all time, had a pupil in Vienna beetween 1801-1804.
   His name was Carl Czerny.
2. Carl Czerny, who is the father of moder piano technique, with his "PIANO STUDIES", was Franz Liszt´s piano teacher.
3. Franz Liszt, the most importat pianist of XIX century, taught to Martin Krause, who was piano teacher at the Stern Conservatory in Berlin.
4. Martin Krause had some pupils, two of them one of the most important pianists of XX century, Claudio Arrau and Edwin Fischer.
5. Edwin Fischer taught to Conrad Hansen in Berlin.
6. Conrad Hansen is the most importat german piano pedagogue, who taught from 1960 in Hamburg. One of his pupils was Kurt Seibert, who was my piano teacher in Germany for six years.
7. All this means that, musically speaking, I am direct heir of Beethoven himself!

For that reason, today I have practised one the studies of Carl Czerny, in C Mayor, composed after being influenced by Beethoven's mastery. It belongs to the book "The Art of Finger Dexterity" op.740.
It is very important to notice the action of fingers in the two hands, which must keep relaxed without strain on wrists

Este fin de semana, mientras viajaba por el norte de Alemania para dar mis conciertos en Hamburgo y Bremen, he estado pensando sobre el origen de la técnica moderna de piano. También recordé mis tiempos de estudiante (1995-2001)y mis clases con el profesor Kurt Seibert, que es el heredero directo de la Escuela de Piano Alemana.
Así que, me gustaría describiros el árbol genealógico de esta tradicional Escuela Alemana:

1. L.v.Beethoven, quien es para mí el más grande compositor de todos los tiempos, tuvo un alumno en Viena entre 1801 y 1804. Su nombre era Carl Czerny.
2. Carl Czerny, que es el padre de la moderna técnica de piano, con sus "ESTUDIOS PARA PIANO", fue el profesor de piano de Franz Liszt.
3. Franz Liszt, el pianista más importante del S. XIX, enseñó a Martin Krause, que fue profesor de piano en el Conservatorio Stern de Berlin.
4. Martin Krause tuvo varios alumnos, dos ellos Claudio Arrau y Edwin Fischer, de los más grandes pianistas del S.XX.
5. Edwin Fischer enseñó a Conrad Hansen en Berlin.
6. Conrad Hansen es el más importante pedagogo alemán del S. XX, que enseñó en Hamburgo desde 1960. Uno de sus alumnos fue Kurt Seibert. que fue mi profesor en Alemania durante 6 años.
7. Lo cual significa que, musicalmente hablando, ¡soy heredero del mismo Beethoven!

Por este motivo, hoy he estado practicando uno de los estudios de piano de Carl Czerny, en DO MAYOR, compuesto bajo la influencia de su maestro Beethoven. Pertenece al libro : "El Arte de la destreza de los dedos" op.740.
Es muy importante que observéis la acción de todos los dedos en las dos manos, que deben permanecer relajadas sin que se produzca tensión en las muñecas.
