Rueda de Las Aceñas | Water mill wheel
En la ciudad de Zamora, en el barrio de Olivares, se pueden visitar estas Aceñas.
Aceña: (definición de la RAE)
- Molino harinero de agua situado en el cauce de un río.
- Rueda que se coloca en el curso de un río y que, movida por la acción de la corriente, saca agua para regar.
De origen medieval, fueron la primera industria de la ciudad. Se levantaron hasta siete ruedas para la molienda del trigo con sus correspondientes presas o azudes.
Entre los siglos X y XII pasaron a ser propiedad de la iglesia y así se mantuvieron hasta la desamortización de Mendizábal (en el siglo XIX se sacaron a subasta pública).
In the city of Zamora, in the neighborhood of Olivares, you can visit this construction. It is a mill flour of water located in the bed of a river.
Of medieval origin, they were the first industry of the city. Up to seven wheels were raised for the grinding of wheat with its corresponding dams or weirs. Between centuries X and XII happened to be property of the church and thus they were maintained until the confiscation of Mendizábal (in the XIX century a public auction was taken).
