Este género tiene como particularidad de que va dirigido a un público de niñas, conocido también este género como Magical Girl en español "Niña mágica".
Estos animes suelen tener como tema u objetivo principal niñas o chicas que tienen poderes mágicos o especiales que utilizan para proteger algo. Sus tramas muestran que a estas chicas se le complica su vida escolar, social y familiar porque tienen que dividir el tiempo normal y el de su vida de heroínas. Siendo siempre ellas mismas y desbordando amor y ternura, aparte de brindar toques de comedia.
