From its origins, gins have been characterized by having powerful smells, where the juniper has been the king. Now, there is a new range of gins willing to overshadow those old glories. Indeed, we are talking about the pink gin.
This new type of gins has its origin in Brockmans, who began to distill a gin with blackberries and blueberries, with a mild flavor and an important fruity smell.

After Brockmans arrived the first Spanish gin with pink tints, it was London Dry Gin Nº0, a gin macerated with blackberries and violets, who tasted it remain faithful to it, since its base is far from the extremely flavored gins of now.

Later in 2012 the Sikkim Bilberry arrived, the first brand of gin that combined a marked blackberry flavor with an elegant purple color. It was the boom of the gins of color. It was a success, proof of this was the market launch of Sikkim Fraise, the first pink gin. This time the characteristic was the color pink and its flavor of strawberries. This was the event that marked the beginning of this new type of gins.
At the beginning of 2015, Sikkim Fraise was already in the top 15 of Spanish gins.

It is at this point, that many distilleries begin their tests and experiments to distill pink gin.
The trend was marked, more and more were betting on the pink.

The great winner of this trend was Premium Puerto de Indias gin, which evidenced the change in trend. Puerto de Indias Strawberry, was born after a failed experiment, strawberries macerated in alcohol with too much heat, they made the miracle. Then they distilled that alcohol with the botanists of their traditional gin and ... they broke all the schemes!

Puerto de Indias Strawberry was the definitive blow, woke up the big distilleries of Spain, Mombasa, Blanc Lady, Larios, Rives and some more, that little by little they were creating their version of pink gin.
