The chapin chapus is a word you come across here in Guatemala. It means solving a problem by any way necessary, even if incorrect and not long lasting. Chapin is what a Guatemalan refers to themselves as. Born in Guatemala means born Chapin.

A chapus is a 'get'er done' way of finishing a task. A chapusero is a person who does something in a sloppy or botched way. It is often a short cut, a cover up, a problem solved, a way around having correct tools or materials to do the work...or just a lack of ability to do it correctly. A T-tard way of doing things.

It could also be used positively though.
That 'will do it' kinda mindset. it could be translated in a sentence like...' He jerry-rigged the piping to fit an impossible corner.' or in the neg... 'He used silicone and plastic to cob-job the leaking window.'

Sometimes a chapus is ingenious and necessary....other times its just plain dumb and never gonna properly work.
It is a great skill to be creative and capable of a quality chapus. or It is a painful joke of wood and bent nails, duck tape and hot glue.
some of us live a chapus like existence...cobbling around from one things to another. some of us are not even capable of making a chapus and are proud of that fact.
