Castaway (part 1)

"It's definitely not nice to be stranded on an uninhabited planet," he thought as he stood up and fastened his trousers, took two steps forward and turned to look at his debris, he could see little nematodes sticking out of them, "Damn, I hate this place," he thought, before he made his way back to his camp.

-Something must be wrong with my nanobots, - he said to himself as he walked. I shouldn't have a parasite infection.

He walked around dodging several fallen tree trunks and finally reached the beach where he had set up the portable room for the ship's emergency kit, "how much longer will I have to wait here," he thought.

A few hundred metres away in a clearing away from the marshes and their dense mangroves was his ship, he had decided to move away from it, to be closer to the beach, which offered him some source of food, as well as a continuous source of water.

It had been thirty days since his ship had failed to enter the atmosphere of the planet and he had been forced to make an emergency descent into this remote part of the continent. His reserves of water and food had been exhausted days before, and he still had a long time to wait for the arrival of a rescue mission.

He felt his viscera twist and burn intensely, "why on earth, among the species that are sown by terraforming, are the parasites," he thought, was just a rhetorical question, as an environmental engineer he knew the answer, they were part of the food chain, like many other species that could be harmful to humans, but no longer pose any risk, thanks to the nanobots of cell regeneration.

Confident in the regeneration and infection-fighting capacity of the microscopic biomachines that ran through his bloodstream, he simply ate and drank what nature on that planet provided, without the slightest care to boil the water or properly cook the food.

That night an intense earthquake shook the island where he was, "the ground of this damn planet shakes all the time", was what came to his mind, while he watched the recycling robots of the terraforming system, doing their monotonous job of lifting and processing in their bodies, in the shape of a huge garbage container, the remains of the fallen trees.

While he was absorbed in watching the coming and going of the machines, trying to keep his mind distracted from the intense pain in his abdomen, the beach was lit up with an intense green glow, he turned around expecting to see a rescue ship, but instead he watched as the light was emitted by several spheres that were suspended a few inches from the calm surface of the sea.

These were five spheres formed by hexagonal panels, which rotated on their horizontal axis emitting light in total silence. They were located about a hundred meters from the beach.

Moses watched in complete astonishment, he had never seen such a thing before, there was no terraforming mechanism that even resembled what was in front of his eyes. They were suspended over the water for about twenty seconds, and then after a dizzying increase in the speed with which they were turning on their axis, they suddenly submerged, generating almost no disturbance in the water.
