Commenting is not spamming. :)
You usually recognize the blatantly obvious spam, though.
If one is to compliment a post, a good way to do it so to explain why. It gives feedback. Simply doing a generic "Awesome post, so informative, I feel inspired, now upvote and follow me!" comment is what I'm speaking of.
