The First Ever Image of a Black Hole
Today, 10th April 2019, was the day the world got to see the first ever image of a black hole.
And a big reason of why we were able to get this image, was thanks to this awesome lady right here.
Katie Bouman, an MIT graduate.
3 years ago, she led the creation of a new algorithm to produce the first ever image of a black hole we are seeing today!
This is her with the hard drives containing the image data for the hard drive!
If you're interested, catch her Ted Talk about this:

Big thanks to everyone involved in making this happen.
If only Albert Einstein and Stephen Hawking were around to see this today...

Confirmed, it's black.
The hole itself is, sure. As are most holes.

In my opinion, the memes that came of it were more impressive than the photo itself 😂

Haha yea saw some crazy ones on Twitter. Don't blame them for having fun with it!

Yep congrats to her...
But A Bigger shoutout to all engineers who actually built all the telescopes, and the guys who synced them and all the other stuff :) Not trying to diminish her success, it is great :) But lets be honest - with development of technology it was just a matter of time. :)
Cheers
Massive shoutout to them for sure! This was all a big team effort.
And as much as I agree with your last statement, she was still the first one to have done what she's done, so she definitely deserves to be celebrated for leading the way :)
