Sex Bots are coming. Is society ready?
I knew this technology was coming to a neighborhood near us. It was only a matter of time before robot advancements would become life like. Today, lifelike bots (sex dolls) are available for sale. The video below discusses the current market and demand for these dolls. The female dolls are the most popular but male dolls are available. These manufacturers can even custom make a doll for you.
As the technology improves for robotics, skin materials and A.I. (artificial intelligence)they will become more and more life like. It will not be long before we start to hear of social dilemmas. Will people be marrying their dolls? If you are married to another human, would it be considered "cheating" if you are involved with a sex doll? Will insurance companies insure these dolls? They are not cheap with costs being over $15,000.00. Can you imagine getting a doll and have payments just like having car payments?
I often wonder, as these bots get more life like, if Las Vegas will have legal bot brothels? I am sure they will be a booming business and bring in great tax revenue (being sarcastic). I am sure that single spots and on line dating services will be taking a hit once these bots become more mainstream and cost go down. In the video, you will notice that these dolls come with an app and the dolls learn patterns and personalities. This will definitely compete with real human to human interactions and relationships.
What if they make youth dolls that interest pedophiles? Would that be considered a crime? Even if it is a doll or bot is the intention enough to be guilty. Most mass murderers start by killing animals before moving up to humans. As technology increases so will the need for society to keep up with moral or ethical issues. I do not know what the answers are. This article is just to bring to light how fast our world is changing. I guess we are no longer living in a Leave it to Beaver world (1957-1963 TV family show).

Sex dolls for EVERYONE! Hahahha, yeah its gonna be a crazy next 50 years.
In 50 years I think everyone will have a bot partner. No one will ever have a human to human relationship with all of the drama that comes with one. A bot will be programmed to your tastes, hobbies, music and entertainment likes etc. The bot would be a perfect room mate and friend that does not create stress or argue. I can see this being 100% the case

Do I think technology will eventually be utilized to meet much of our human needs? Yes. At the same time, there are drawbacks. It's not like having a real interaction with a human, which can be good and bad. I think this will lose stigma as time goes on.

A very interesting post.. However, how do you think reflexes will be handled by these bots. Human reflexes are still highly complex and may not be simulated soon.

It will be decades before reflexes are even close to simulating humans. It is my thinking, that human design will always be superior. In the beginning, the dolls will be crude but improve as money pours into the industry. Thanks for your reply. It is nice to meet you

Yes. This will be huge (in the Billions of dollars. I bet at least 50% of the global citizens would immediately take a bot as a companion over people. This would be true especially if their is improved A.I. and you can program dolls to have similar likes and dislikes as you have
The sooner we separate sex from reproduction (you can't reproduce with a robot), marriage from servitude, and marriage from producing offspring to look after you when you are sick or old, the sooner we'll get to reducing world population by 90% or more. So if sexbots and robot servants is what it takes then bring it on.
Yes, I do believe one of the goals is to reduce the global population. I do feel that many newborns come into the world and the parents are either not ready for children or do not want them. It probably is better for people to be satisfied with a sex bot than to bring an unwanted child into the world.

I did not hear about this version, but doesn't surprise me. ....I do have a vision of a cheating spouse's clothes thrown out on the front lawn and lastly the sex bot gets thrown on top of the pile! lol .... But yes, agree that our world is changing very fast, far from the Beav's world!
