If you are reading this, chances are you found us on Facebook or Google. Logging into google plus, or Facebook, typing your favorite question or liking a hilarious meme of the day. You are doing something for a school project, your work or just downright creepy.

Well, it’s your mobile who is looking right?? If you lock your PC or phone your texts and messages are all secure and no one will ever come to know… You might be wrong, in fact, you are. Just like the FBI keeping records of every crime ever... EVERYTHING YOU EVER DID ON THE INTERNET has been willingly or unwillingly stored in the Google or Facebook archives. You are being watched, every day, every minute, EVERY SECOND and if you own a smartphone, they probably even know what you ate for dinner.

So why to collect all our information??

Simple… Nothing is actually ever free. Remember how creating an account in Google and setting up a profile in Facebook is ridiculously easy, and FREE… they collect data from you.

Google probably holds more information about you than anyone else. If you thought your best friend or mum knows you best, think again, because Google does. Yes, they feed on your information. Age, gender, interests, what you search for, where you live, and there could even be more than you aren’t aware of, based on your browser permissions.

While Google, actually doesn’t keep it for fun and curves out services for our needs like railway schedules, nearest restaurant and when your favorite team plays, while also saving your browser history to help you out.

Facebook is more of a monopoly and concentrated on getting you hooked, than giving you insane value. Facebook use the things you like and are interested in and shuts you down from anything and everything negative. Result? You keep going to Facebook and will keep doing so because that’s exactly what they want.

Things you’ve ‘liked’, groups you joined, photos, videos and links you’ve shared, basically anything you click on. Facebook can track everything you do outside of Facebook as well, cookies and things such as websites you visit are not out of their reach.

Knowing what you’ve shared with Facebook, and what you’ve shared with friends on Facebook is much simpler to find out than finding out who Facebook thinks you are.

CONCLUSION

Google and Facebook are the biggest companies on the internet, for reasons more than one. What makes them powerful is data resource. Although all this might be alarming at first, people have gradually come to accept their fate that they will never be alone. It is up to the user to be wary of the consequences and whatever they do on the internet. Afterall, privacy is just a myth.

This is why I never log on google when I do my searches, and I never had an assbook account.

Roll on blockchain tech and decentralization. Once Steemit, and now DTube start to really take off all sort of decentalised sites will explode. God knows what will come on the Ethereum blockchain or Golem. Whatever the case. Giants like Google and FB will be finished. Just imagine another Google on a decentralised blockchain like Golem. Its only just the beginning.
