Each week the SoCal Spotlight highlights five of the awesome posts from #socalsteemit! So, lets dive on in and see what kind of cool stuff the SoCal Steemians have been posting about this week!
Up first on this weeks Spotlight is a post by @eyedreemit who shares her experience with a nesting family of Mourning Doves. We get a great story full of emotion, suspense, and interesting information. As well as how it relates to building empathy and supporting rigorous thinking among her students!

For our second featured post this week @csusbgeochem1 takes us with him to the SoCal steemit meetup hosted by @mariannewest in San Diego. He got to meet some new Steemians and learn about all kinds of new apps for the Steem blockchain as well as learn about old social media sites that preceded Steemit.

Up next we have a post by @inalittlewhile who tells us the story of his friend Robbie who while out in the desert got stuck by a cactus, and had quite a struggle to remove the needle! He not only tells us the story, but also gives us a great metaphor that is a good life lesson for anyone.

In the fourth featured post this week @mariannewest takes us with her on her experience of attending and speaking at the Steem Creators Conference in Las Vegas. She got to meet lots of awesome Steemians, and see lots of great speakers, as well as speak on a panel about starting local meetups!!

In the final post of the week @creationofcare shows us how she uses some "weeds" as delicious and nutritious ingredients for her mouthwatering "Chickweed and Lamb's Quarter Lasagna"! She takes us step by step through the process from harvesting the "weeds", to prepping the rest of the dish, and finally baking it to perfection!
