Welcome to week 30 of the SoCal Spotlight!
Each week the SoCal Spotlight highlights five of the awesome posts from #socalsteemit! So, lets dive on in and see what kind of cool stuff the SoCal Steemians have been posting about this week!
In our first featured post this week @corinneiskorean shows us one of her beautiful watercolor paintings and takes us step by step through the creation process showing us all the interesting techniques she used. The sketch, wet on wet, preserving white, wet on dry, layering, shadows, and more!

Up next we have a really fun post from @steemseph! First he shares some awesome live music from him and the guys at @steelparade! (I'm jamming out to it as I write this!) And then shares with us all about his participation in the Santa Ana Pinball tournament! He didn't win, but with all the different machines to play it looked like a lot of fun!

In our third featured post this week @mariannewest tells us about one of her favorite places to visit, Balboa Park in San Diego! She tells us a bit about the park and it's museums, street artists, vendors, and more. And she recommends anyone going to San Diego be sure to take some time to visit the park!

Next we have a great post by @kunschj who tells us about the Flying Lifeguards and Kaila's Komfort, two support groups for sufferers of rare diseases. He's had personal experience with rare disease in his family, and his grand daughter Cali formed the Flying Lifeguards so that other kids, and adults, with rare diseases wouldn't feel so alone. October is CRMO-Awareness month so the Flying Lifeguards joined a Cake Walk to help benefit Kalia's Komfort. While @kunschj didn't win a cake the event looked like lots of fun and actually came close to breaking the Guinness world record for the largest cakewalk!

In our final post for this weeks Spotlight @creationofcare shares the next phase of creating her "crazy quilt background" for #needleworkmonday! This week she added the shade tree in a charmeuse silk circle and she did some "Strip Quilting" and put in some cool border stitches. Her plan is to add all kinds of aspects from her garden including blue jays, hawks, finches, mantids, and bees!
