Sndbox Summer Camp Psychology Task 3
My journey into the sea of knowledge.
Since I was little I have always feel attracted in learning new things that interest me. As I grow older I started to understand how our world works, and my interest in “adult” subjects like money and politics started to grow also, and I even remember one day when I was having lunch with my dad that he told me he was surprised of my level of understanding about politics because of my age, but of course, when he was my age there wasn’t as much problems as there are now. I comment this as an example of how I am, because I feel constantly driven to increase my understanding of subjects that can help when making decisions in my life and achieve better results. I agree with the phrase “knowledge is power”, the more knowledge we have the better the possibilities of gathering enough information in order to take the best decision possible.
For example, right now I know I need to learn more about the crypto industry, and whenever I can, I am reading news on my flipboard or checking the several subreddits and sometimes steem posts, where I know there are always people discussing the latest events. I know having a proper understanding of the different projects there are can help me take better decisions when it comes to my involvement in any crypto project out there, especially in which one to invest my money and time, with the hopes of one day having blockchain technology all around and the satisfaction of being one of the “early” adopters.
What about psychology?
As some of you already know, I am not a psychologist, and I could never be one because of my stuttering problem, which is by the way, one of the reasons I enjoy writing so much because I can communicate properly whatever idea I want to share.
But as its usually the case with several subjects, you don’t need to be professional in one area to understand it and feel the thirst to learn and share your views.
I think I have mentioned before, that I had one uncle (that passed away 3 years ago) and he lived with us since he suffered from mental issues (he was literally insane, but constantly took pills that made him “normal”). These issues made it impossible for him to live a normal and independent life.
When I was little we even used to play a lot of Monopoly and a little bit of soccer in our backyard as well as watching a lot of soccer matches together on the TV, but as the years passed he started to deteriorate a lot. His health and physical strengh was lower than normal for someone his age, and even his older brothers were in better shape than him.
It was this close experience with someone with mental issues that started my interest in this area. Understanding how our mind works, the typical reactions we can have when experiencing certain things, even when reading the book of “Rich Dad Poor Dad” (a book about developing a proper mentality for business and being able to have success that way) I realized psychology is always around us in everything we do and in every interaction we have, besides, if we have proper comprehension about how our brain works, it will be easier for us to face and overcome the difficult situations we all encounter in our lives from time to time.
So I see this area as something that can make me become a more well rounded person, with a proper understanding about our world, our society, and people in general, and because of this, it can certainly help me and other people in every day situations.
Why I want to be part of Sndbox?
I joined Steemit in the first week of December 2017, and I remember a few weeks later they announced they were adopting a new schedule consisting in 2 cohorts per year with 5 months each, since I was very new at the time, I decided the best option for me was to wait those 5 months and try to become a member for cohort 2.
As far as I understand, Sndbox is probably the community that is better prepared to enhance the potential of any type of creative people out there, by motivating and coaching everyone of its members to always strive towards making good quality content of all kind of subjects for the community to enjoy.
I know Sndbox has a physical presence in New York, and they created the only Steem powered and art related physical project I have seen in my 4 months in the platform with the Steem Park, which clearly shows the huge commitment they have with the Steem platform and its success. Because of everything I have mentioned, I would be incredibly honored to be able to be a member of such an active and supporting community.
Besides, by becoming a member it should be easier to engage with other creative people, make new interesting friends and hopefully create new projects with the goal of strengthen this platform and engaging with other users.
Sndbox since the beginning is looking for members who are able to create good quality content as I already mentioned before, and I believe I am capable of providing just that and even covering several other subjects such as crypto projects (which is a subject I am trying to cover more to diversify my blog), as well as helping communities grow, for example with the work I have been doing first as a Scouter and now as a Core member in the @promo-mentors community that is yet to be officially introduced but its very active in its discord channel, I know @anomadsoul and @guyfawkes4-20 are both aware of this community since they are both members and they can see the work that is being done.
And of course, I am very happy for the opportunity to participate in these quests, they were really fun guys! I also really appreciate the work the sndbox community is doing in order to make steem a better place for all its users.
Thanks for reading!

@dedicatedguy Thanks for sharing your personal story of how you became interested in psychology. You're curiosity will make you smarter, wealthier and happier but it will also make you sad and helpless sometimes because you will realize that there are some things that are nearly impossible to control or change the outcome of no matter how many different ways you look at it.
I like my own curiosity because it has led me to exploring a wide variety of subjects and find constant interest and wonder in the world we live in but I don't like my curiosity because it also makes me focus on and over-analyze some of my flaws and flaws of the world which are out of my own control.
I think it is important to have a balanced approach of life which is easier said than done so that you can sometimes stop thinking and start living more.
I agree with your message, finding a balance in life will always be important, but being balanced and being curious aren't necessarily incompatible things.
In fact, probably the only way to figure out how to lead a balanced life is with a constant learning about all sort of subjects.
Thanks for such a good comment although the main point of the post wasn't crypto :)
Good point!
Sorry, I meant psychology lmao 😅

Thanks mate!
Not that's what I call an 'understatement' ;>)
Great to learn about this personal story of yours. My father had a psychosis in 2009 but I had already finished University by then so it didn't change my way of thinking. Or maybe it did... long story though
I totally forgot that I stuttered as a kid. I grew over it. You might too, one day but for now, you can continue writing. You're great at that
C ya!
P.S. perhaps I should hang out at promo mentors again in the near future, if I can find the time. Would love to mentor some Steemians and learn new things myself
Hey there mate!
whoops I meant "understanding" lol, fixing that now.
You should check out promo mentors, there are cool people in that community.
