Talking About 'The Tokenization Of Charity Projects' - Inspired By Steemfest And Empowered By Your Generous DonationssteemCreated with Sketch.

We make a living by what we get, but we make a life by what we give. - Winston Churchill

Well now thanks to blockchain technology and tokenized environments we could also make a living by giving. It's a paradigm shift, and there are completely new ways to raise funds, create value, empower social projects and also reward donators.

'Dreams of the Ocean' will try to become one of the first show cases in that context.

The feedback received on my 'Dreams of the Ocean' video presented at Steemfest was absolutely overwhelming. It really seems that the idea has captured the spirit of our new world and has the potential for growth.

After Steemfest I'm even more convinced that we (steemians) can make a difference in this world!

@surfermarly presenting @dreamsoftheocean at Steemfest [picture kindly provided by @exploretraveler - thanks for the eternalizing that special moment for me!!]

The best is yet to come!

Thanks to the conversations I had with other steemians in Lisbon, now I have uncountable new ideas on how to bring 'Dreams of the Ocean' to the next level.

@immarojas mentioned that she might be interested in installing a 'Dreams of the Ocean' at one of her spots on the Philippines. What a brilliant idea! Also @brian-rhodes had the idea to equip the kids in need on my island with multimedia devices and like that help them to onboard steemit and participate in our network. Awesome!

Furthermore, I was pretty inspired by the Steemfest presentation from @sndbox - @hansikhouse and @voronoi and our following conversation about their "incubator mission":

Sndbox is a Steemit incubator that empowers impactful and creative projects worldwide. Our goal is to create a supportive environment where an artist, architect, musician, curator, educator, entrepreneur, non-profit, or community organizer can explore, innovate and play all while being rewarded for sharing their craft. - Source

Bundling all these ideas (and a lot more that evolved during the conference), there might be a chance to see 'Dreams of the Ocean' as a pilot project or show case for other future charity projects backed by Steem.

Even Steemit Inc's Co-Founder and CEO Ned Scott @ned brought up the tokenization of charity in his Twitter feed a couple of hours ago:

It's a win win: thanks to the tokenization of charity projects and donation processes, there will be a way to reward donators and even 'compensate' them for their contribution.

What a groundbreaking chance!

That's one more reason why I'd love to push the idea on the Steem blockchain and get as much people as possible involved.

Thanks to SMTs, we may be able to become pioneers in that context: the first tokenized and worldwide established network of charity projects.

Maybe one of the most interesting questions or challenges in that context will be the following: how may we be able to raise funds and give them away without weakening the eco-system of Steem.

As long as we have to sell Steem in order to feed the cause, we won't be actually contribute to the overall growth of the network.

During my presentation I mentioned that I had to power down 1,500 Steem in order to finance the first three charity surf events under the umbrella of 'Dreams of the Ocean'. Obviously that's not the scenario we're pretending to have in the future.

One of the primary goals we might follow, should be having ALL participants in the game being part of the tokenized network.

Smart Media Tokens may become a key role here.

So that is why @ned's idea might be the true game changer: if you received a token as receipt for your contribution, you wouldn't actually 'lose value'. You would exchange one token for another and re-establish the balance within the eco-system.

Talking about donators... Last but definitely not least I'd like to thank the fellow steemians who sent donations to the wallet of @dreamsoftheocean during the past days.

  1. Thank you @uwelang for raising funds in your #charityweekly's article
  2. Thank you @stephen-somers, @bitrocker2020 and @cassidyandfranks for your generous donations
  3. Thank you @anonymous.donor for your incredible donation of 500 Steem - wow!!!

Only two weeks after setting up the account @dreamsoftheocean it is already worth $700 - wow! That's value created thanks to you!

During the next days I will carefully set up a roadmap for the next months. I guess it might be a good idea saving money and promoting the idea during the winter months and then implement new activities on beginnings of 2018.

There is one thing I can definitely promise you: THE BEST IS YET TO COME.

Closing thought: Our social activities backed by Steem may be always implemented as a promotion tool in order to acquire new investors, partners and ambassadors:
'Do good and talk about it.'

Having steemit.com as THE communication channel based on the Steem blockchain, we're able to easily spread the word. So let's make some noise!!!

Thanks for your ongoing and amazing support!

Marly for @dreamsoftheocean

Du kannst wirklich stolz auf Dich und so ein wunderbares Projekt sein. Im happy that I finally met you in person.

Danke meine Süße! It was soooo nice to finally meet you in person, I love your spirit!!! :-)

With support like you've had so far, soon you'll be paddling with the whole of Lanzarote, and the rest of the Canaries!

Love the Surf photos from Steemfest, you certainly made the most of last week - awesome!

Still putting my thoughts together about it all, one thing I am positive about are SMT - can you say, Game changer!?

Well done supermarly 😁

Haha, that would be cool!
But you know what: the next activity will be a swim training. Since we had to keep out some of the kids from the last event (surfing) because they don't know how to swim, we are planning on teaching them. The Red Cross has some nice connections, so they will take care of renting a pool though.

You see: there is always so much we can do :-) Also: you were a great inspiration to me in that context with your own charity activities. Thanks for that!!!

Supermarly, hahaha Naaaaaah! That's been team work, and I shouldn't keep the flowers just for myself :-)

Big hugs

great project @surfermarly. sorry not to have had time to talk to you in Lisbon. we listened to your talk anyway.

It is too sad, Paolo! I would have loved to chat with you but for an unknown reason we didn't run into each other. The next time we have to do that!!! :-)
Thanks for being there and for watching my presentation.
Have a great time and see you here on steemit :-)

Great work..it was an important opprtunity to speak about your project of charity in steemfest...I hope that this event can help you to grow your idea because it s a human act which can solve many problems in our world..thanks again you have an awesome smile.

Thanks for your kind words, and please excuse my late reply!
I've defininitely received some nice feedback after my presentation at steemfest, so YES: the conference was a nice boost for my project :-)
Have a great Sunday!

It was fantastic to have met you in person. Your presentation still has a fire burning in me. I have no idea what that means, but I am excited in what the future holds. I will keep you posted.

I hope your event this weekend is a HUGE success!!

Aaaaaw, thank you so much for your kindness!
That's a really cute picture by the way :-)
The yesterday's event was indeed a great success. We had some kids repeating from the first session, so they were able to take advantage of their knowledge and did very well in the water.
It's so fulfilling!!! I could do presentations about such things my whole life from now on, haha

Have a great Sunday and thanks for your support! :-)

I would invest in such tokens. Also I am waiting for someone to make a gofundme like website in which we can pay using cryptocurrencies.

Great and thought-provoking comment!

Great ideas!

I'm still holding your coin in my hands! :-)

That's great! :)

Doing great @surfermarly - I got in touch with you on Facebook before (when you decided to leave Steemit) and we had a nice chat. I'm part of the group where @immarojas is, called @steemph. We've been doing charity as well for a while - it's part of our main mission. You've been really inspiring ever since I saw your blog. Thanks!

Thanks for your lovely words!! I think now we're connected again on FB :-)
I met @immarojas at Steemfest and LOVED her energy!

Yes, I saw you accepted my request, thanks! She's our Tita (Aunt) in @steemph. :)

I would like to know why my posts dont get upvotes? Is it that bad posts? It maybe not an excellent post but I know its an average good posts. Can someone help me?
Thanks 🙏

Wow this whole SMT thing is mind bending stuff. Your donation receipt in tokens which then have their own value.

YES! I love this idea - very much! Not only in relation to charity, but in general.
As Ned said during the Fireside chat in Lisbon: tokens might be able to mirror a person's fields of interest. Show me your tokens, and I tell you who you are. :-)
