Оn a visit to the underwater world
Having been on the island of Okinawa in Japan, you need to visit the oceanarium that is there. Since this oceanarium is one of the largest in the world, and to visit it we already prepared in advance.Since from the village of Cadena, where we stopped right up to the oceanarium the way was not a little-about 50 kilometers, then we took advantage of the services of a travel company that provides a bus for traveling to the oceanarium. The bus passes through all the hotels where tours to the oceanarium were ordered and collects people. This way seems to me the most rational and cheap because the taxis on Okinawa are quite expensive.
In general the excursion in itself includes, in addition to the oceanarium, visits to the tropical butterfly and plant park in Okinawa and after the aquarium to the farm where the pineapples produce a variety of food products including wine.
А bus that transports tourists, lands them on a large site with a view of the sea.
Going down the steps of the stairs, we pass to the middle of the square, where a fountain with a dolphin is installed, which gives people passing by clouds of cool water vapor, which is very useful in the hot sun - and it's already the very end of October.
Okinawa Churaumi Aquarium, which is part of the Ocean Expo Commemorative National Government Park. In terms of water volume and total volume, the Churaumi Aquarium ranks second among objects of this type, second only to Georgia Aquarium, located in the state of Atlanta (USA). The Okinawa Oceanarium was opened in 2002 and is a member of the Japanese Association of Zoos and Aquariums.
Аt the entrance. We buy tickets that are not included in the cost of the excursion and immersed in the water world, along the way, you can take several pictures from the balconies of the complex of buildings.
Churaumi Aquarium is located on an area of 19 thousand square meters and accommodates a total of 10 thousand cubic meters of water. The place where it was built is quite picturesque - a gentle slope of the hill, almost on the coast of the East China Sea. The building itself is made in a stepped form, which gives the oceanarium a somewhat futuristic look. Inside, it is finished and built in such a way as to create the impression of a full immersion in the underwater world of the island of Okinawa.
The oceanarium shows the marine flora and fauna of the Kuroshio Current.
I liked the appearance of the mangroves in a cut, I've never seen this before.
It's interesting to look at the inhabitants of great depths where sunlight does not penetrate.
The main aquarium is inhabited by whale sharks - the largest sharks in the world, as well as flocks of rays and other fish species. The Oceanarium is the only place in the world where a whale shark and manta (sea devil) are bred.
Acrylic glass aquarium height of 8.2 meters, a width of 22.5 meters and a thickness of 60 cm separates visitors from the inhabitants of the ocean depths, but give an excellent opportunity to observe them.
The Japanese were the first to keep whale sharks in captivity. In the aquarium there is the largest shark from captive - male 8.5 m long (there were specimens up to 20 m in nature). When it was caught and placed in an aquarium, its length was 4.6 m.
The inhabitants of the aquarium are fed 4 times a day. Whale sharks, usually measured floating, with an important appearance, become more active before feeding. This is also quite worth seeing, which is a bad to miss. Moreover, the feeding hours are indicated on the information stand, so you can come here at a certain time.
In a separate outside pool dolphinarium there are shows of dolphins and killer whales who are trained and perform various tricks.
The aquarium is open all year round, from 09:30 to 16:30 (opening hours may vary slightly depending on the season).
The entrance ticket costs 1800 yen.
