What Can Smart Money Do For You?

in #smartmoney8 years ago (edited)

Money, cash, gold and all assets of value have largely been inanimate things for billions of years. They do not serve any other functions other than being a store-of-value, a medium of exchange between people. What if there's a kind of digital money, so technologically advanced that it enables everybody financially? Think about a new kind of new-age internet money that's high-accessible, valuable, and functional, making it one of the most widely-used currencies in the universe.

It is also similar to a consumer good that users can earn and purchase for more access, functionalities, and potential returns. Here's my wishlist for the next evolution of money. Smart money provides:-

  • A store-of-value. Something that I can buy, save, or exchange for anything else. Just like money.
  • Ability to send money instantly, anonymously, and without transaction fees.
  • Ability to earn money via many different platforms - think about social apps, HR apps, virtual-assistant apps, financial apps, commerce apps, etc.
  • Access to banking / financial services - tools for value diversification and smart money reinvestment. Smart money should also enable me to trade and invest with both convenience and confidence. To top it off, smart money management can also be partly (or fully) delegated to trusted peers, communities, and autonomous apps.
  • Ability to contribute and participate in a voluntary community of smart money users, where social activities using smart money tend to improve the currency's value.
  • A way to withstand shocks and depression in the economy.
  • A gateway into the sharing economy.
  • Provide me a place to post my immortalise my thoughts and delicious memes.
  • Find me a girlfriend lol.

Ask NOT what smart money can do. Ask what smart money can do for YOU!

So what's in your wishlist?

Thanks @pfunk for your recent article: https://steemit.com/smartmoney/@pfunk/smart-money-rebranding-cryptocurrency-for-mass-appeal

I love cryptos, and I believe in them. But what happens when your internet goes down, or electricity is cut off?

IMO, don't think there's much to worry, unless one is away from civilisation.. I guess it's stuff like:-

  • Mobile devices (low power)
  • IoT
  • Giant Wifis
  • Renewable energy systems
  • Crypto-coins (actual coins)
  • Smart money enabling ease of diversification (yea definitely can't rely on one thing)
  • Paper wallet / private key (it's not like they'll disappear)

There are many times when your phone doesn't work, the battery can die for example. It's situations like this where I haven't figured out how to deal with digital cash.

Superlite hardware wallet like kindle (or trezor etc), cheap and solar-powered like calculators..

  • Replicate and multiply without supervision.

To top it off, smart money management can also be partly (or fully) delegated to trusted peers, communities, and autonomous apps.

Covered :)
