I will prefer my foods to be served fresh without any doubt of it being contaminated. What about my drugs, there is no way I will be comfortable taking them if I feel it has in anyway been deviated from its original form either during transportation or unconducive environment.
What about you as a farmer,or a pharmaceutical industry you definitely will be satisfy if your products or drugs could reach the consumer in good shape and form.
Some of these products are required to be transported in long distance to different states and countries in the process it also gets in contact with so many middlemen before finally reaching the hands of the final consumers.
With the distance and numerous intermidiaries the chances of it reaching the consumers in good state like it was produce or harvested is really difficult due to many factors.
Some of the factors that affect our products could be during transportation such as spoilage of the product during transportation due to spontaneous degradation of organic molecule present in the food substances, rodents could also attack products during transportation same as pest and also infestation by insects.
But mostly due to multiplications of micro-organism(bacteria,virus and fungi) which leads to the release of toxic substance which leads to spoilage of our product making them to be unsafe for consumption and also leading to significant loss by the producers and owners.
Now you could argue that rodent, insects and pest can be easily prevented from coming in contacts with the products during transportation by either making sure the products are packaged in containers and ensuring there is no route in which these harmful agents can come in contact with them.
Then how about the proliferation of micro-organism,putting the products in containers alone won't prevent them from proliferating you have to make sure there environment is not conducive for them to proliferate by either heating the products before transporting in other to reduce there number or by canning them to make the environment unconducive. Now let's go to products that cannot be canned or heat before transportation, what's the fate of such kind of products? Does it mean such kind of product can't be ensure to reach the consumers in good state
