Sky Mood Today

How has today been going for you? Feeling a little stuck in places? Well, it could be the sky mood today. You know, that mood in the air, the feels, the atmosphere, the smell and taste of a place, the look and feel of folks when you walk into a place. Or the feels when you walk into a place and it welcomes you like a warm hug from your best friend - or it feels like a kick in the teeth?
That.
It's big and obvious and none of us can get away from it. It's also what keeps so many people living lives as shut-ins. I do understand that as I have some fierce social anxiety and will procrastinate going out into it. So what do we do to cope?

I study astrology, mythology and psychology to try to gain some understanding of the sky mood. It helps me gain my footing in this already-too-complicated world. And some days it even gets me out the door.

Here's what I find interesting about today.

We have an Aries Sun and a Scorpio Moon today. It's going to be a bit aggressive today with those two in the front row. Not necessarily mean, just a "Me first!" sort of day, where people can get a little pushy when advocating for themselves. It's best to allow others to go first at four-way stop signs and in lines at the market if they look impatient. It can save time in the long run.

The next energy in the sky mood I want to look at is the Mercury retrograde (or Mercury Gatorade as some of us joke) as it can really put the skids on plans, especially plans that involve communication. Letters sent will be delayed, phone calls are missed, messages are sent but misunderstood, auto wrecks and fender-benders happen, glitches in our electronics happen and contracts we counted on are somehow found null and void when entered into during this regular-yet-annoying cycle of Mercury in the sky mood. It's usually a six-week period where we get a little disoriented and crazy behind our modes of communication. Things like dropping your cell phone in the toilet often happen during a Mercury Retrograde. (Or a Mercury Wretch as we also joke about it)

So what do we do to mitigate this tantrum that Mercury throws three or four times every year?

We review, rehash, reread, redo, rethink, reassess, reconfigurate and reconsider, that's what we do. Go back over your plans and look for any tiny rumple in them. The extra look-see will be worth your time and it will save you a bunch of trouble in the long term.
Try to get your oil changed, files on your computer backed-up and your gorram dental work done between the Mercury retrogrades! In doing so, you will be able to mitigate some of what Mercury so skillfully screws-up. It won't take away the mix-ups and missed-texts but it will help you to recognize it's the Mercury-motion that is messing with your stuff. For me, it takes the personal sting and wails of "Why me?" out of the equation and gives me a giggle once in a while as well. Mercury is the Trickster, the Loki energy, the April Fool in all of our charts. So, prank that little asshole back by being prepared. He goes direct on April 15th at 5:21 am PDT. It'll get a bit less topsy-turvy after that.

Next, I'd like to bring up all this cluster-fuck energy in Capricorn. It helps to remember that Capricorn is the sign of structures and Capricorn loves to build skyscrapers, houses, institutions, rules, courts, governments and all other forms of structures. It is also a sign that respects boundaries, being Saturn-ruled, and is partly responsible for the border disputes we have from time to time. Right now we have three of the Malefics in Capricorn, Mars, Saturn and Pluto. This is what could be called a rough patch of sky mood. Mars is the god of war, Saturn is the god of time and boundaries, Pluto, as we know, rules the Underworld - Hades. The world most likely won't end but it is going to be left in an altered state when these three have completed their cycle and work. The kicker here is that the Pluto return of the U.S.A. is in full-on mode, meaning all three of these energies are at work here. Bet you felt it already, didn't you? Yes, we've all felt it recently and with Uranus (god of Chaos) squaring-up with all this Capricornian energy from the sign of Aries, we do have the ingredients for a real-life revolution. This isn't just for the U.S.A., it's energy that affects our entire world. We see evidence of this energy at work in Syria with the genocide taking place there, in elections where tampering may have been in play, in the young people taking to the streets, in teachers and other working folks striking for better pay and benefits. We see the beginning of a world-wide movement to make living conditions better while watching the ruling-class strip away the safety net of social programs. We see border disputes here and across the world. We fear that something bigger and more horrible will happen. Some say we are living in the "End Times" but I say it's another go-round of the cycle of the planets. It's the sky mood, folks, and it just keeps cycling through. We can look back in history and see that when Pluto was last in Capricorn, our nation was fought for and birthed. Hence our nation's Pluto return and the turmoil we see in our country today.

Saturn and Mars are conjunct in Capricorn right now, meaning they are both at the same degree of Capricorn, thus they are both exerting their energies on a particular area of our charts at the same time. This could lead to a breaking point of sorts for some folks and even some nations. Indeed, there will be break-downs and we will lose a few of our bright stars, however, there will also be break-throughs for many. Look for things that are deteriorating to be reborn from now until 2024 - sorry, it's a slower process in some cases than we'd like - in ways that are better, for the most part. Another thing Mars and Saturn can do is a Start-stop-hurryupandwait-start-stop cycle, which I think we're seeing right now. This will have a chance to break loose around mid-May when Mars transits into Aquarius and Uranus transits into Taurus. There'll be another type of tension when that all changes-up and I'll address this as we get closer to May.
