We should consider views in our curation efforts

If a post is independently obtaining many views, that is contributing value to Steem merely by bringing it to more people. A tool for identifying the highest viewed recent posts, as well as ways to identify genuine views ideally, would be a great help in this.

If we did this is part of regular curation, it would encourage authors to share their posts on social media despite knowing that most votes it brings in would be new minnows (good for the platform but doesn't give post rewards on its own).

but do views here also indicate views that came from outside google and from people that didnt sign up and just read the post? i doubt. so may b adding organic views from google in the view count may encourage too as there is no way real way to get analytics from google for our posts?

I don't know exactly what the views counter here represents. I don't mind if the viewer doesn't sign up, if a post is getting organic views from anywhere we should support it. I'm not sure what tools we can actually use to determine when posts are getting a lot of organic traffic though.

yes, i dont think there is any yet and really i do think the views count here doesnt include those coming from google cos i really do beleive many many views come to steemit from google but no real way to measure that. it would have though if it was possible to measure how much traffic our post bring from google. i think views count here may have to do, with people who actually expand the post.
