Steeming Pile of Short: A weekly serving of praise for short fiction
As the amount of short story content grows on Steemit, I found myself wanting recommendations. I decided to make my own list that highlights my favorite short stories of the week. I will post a new list every Saturday morning, EDST.
The following short stories have a common thread, although I didn't see it until after I picked them. I like stories that are strange, that have a large element of the absurd and a good dusting of magical realism.
Horns
by @suesaTwo women. One is turning into a demon, one is turning into an angel, and neither knows why and neither know their motivation, although they can make a guess. Sometimes the most creative stories are spawned from the act of writing with only a loose idea of what the story will become, which is how @suesa said this tale came to be.

GORILLA: A SHORT STORY
by @mgsunA gorilla is an effective methaphor describing a distruptive presence in your life. You love the person, but you don't love the gorilla. I think anyone who has a bipolar parent would especially appreciate this story. I know what the gorilla is in my life. Dear reader, how about you?

The Cold Magic
by @alexbeymanA man goes deer hunting alone. To say it ends badly is a vast understatement. That's all I'll say.
