Gamma Ray Burst - autobiographical short story / poem
She holds her skull in fingers
Headaches gently swirl
Around her temples
And orbit back
Circling her mind
Crack
She opens up
Hair spirals
Around her forearm
She lowers to the grass
Her crown
One brief glance upwards to align
She bows her head slightly
Offering her naked brain to the sky
Cool dry air stings
The unprotected organ
And the gamma ray burst above
Sluices through her mind
Scratches and pulls
Dimensional particles
And dust
Time
And consciousness
∗
The appointment ends
She makes a backup
And lights a cig
Relishing her humanity
