in #shortestpeople6 years ago

Hi, good day steemians! How are you today? Fantastically I hope. Welcome back to another episode of Top 5 Most Bizarre Files In The Philippines. Today, we are talking about the TOP 5 SHORTEST PEOPLE IN THE PHILIPPINES. I've always been considered pretty short myself. I'm just 4'11. HAHA. However, the people on this list makes me feel absolute giant.

Dwarfism may be caused by inheriting a dwarf gene which is usually autosomal dominant. Genetic mutations including the deletion or alteration of the X chromosome of a person (Turner's syndrome) may also cause dwarfism. Growth hormone deficiency and poor nutrition also causes dwarfism because the things essential for the body to grow are absent. The most common form of dwarfism is called achondroplasia, which accounts for 70% of the cases. This is caused by the mutation in the FGFR3 gene. This genetic changes are believed to causes disturbances in the bone growth resulting in this condition. Besides all the complications brought about by dwarfism, this condition still has no treatment. People with dwarfism, however, may ask for medical assistance to address the health problems brought by their condition. Examples would be surgery to correct scoliosis and misshapen airways and therapies for back pains.

Dwarfism is rare but not uncommon in the Philippines. There are many adults with dwarfism who are living and working in standard conditions and are not discriminated by other people.

Mahal is a 44 year old woman from Manila,Philippines. A comedian actress who famously remembered by her unique roles in Philippine teleseryes and movies. Who could have thought that Mahal portrayed the role of "KOKEY", a cute alien who had a penchant for befriending human beings on 1997 and "Mr. Suave: Hoy! Hoy! Hoy! Hoy! Hoy! Hoy!"in 2003. Today, Mahal had some gigs at comedy bars in Manila and a freelance artist from ABS-CBN, TV5 and GMA7.

She may be vertically-challenged, but that didn’t mean she can’t think big. Mahal visualized herself appearing in movies and seeing her name on the marquee. Luckily for her, Mahal’s humble family – especially her grandmother, who considered her a favorite and gave her the name Mahal – never stood in the way.

Number 4

Allan “Mura” Padua was born in Guinobatan, Albay where he spent most of his childhood with his 13 siblings. He was born with an abnormally low stature called dwarfism. Mura’s father, Mang Juanito Padua, shared that he was surprised when Mura came out as he was as little as the doll his wife used to play with. He thinks Mura got his features from the doll.

In 2010, while Mura was riding a tricycle, the tire suddenly blew out, breaking Mura’s legs. It was hard for him to walk. Coincidentally, his career started to slow down after the accident.

Witnessing how difficult their life now, he hopes that he would have another chance in showbiz again.

Balawing was born a normal size, his family said, and they did not notice anything unusual about him until he was about 4 years old and his peers grew more than he did.

He has not grown since his first birthday, his parents told Guinness.

They are too poor to investigate what medical condition prevented him from growing taller, Guinness said.

But they call him "their lucky charm," saying his father Reynaldo, a blacksmith, had been unemployed until he was born, then found a job after his birth.
