Planning Christmas Gifts For Men

in #shopping6 years ago (edited)

Today I heard a gentleman complain that after spending a few hundred on Christmas gifts for his loved ones, all he gets in return is something boring and cheap - black socks and trousers from the cheapest shop in town...

I am not sure why this man gets such unimaginative gifts every year, but it made me think that I also find it hard to buy interesting gifts for the men in my life, especially if I cannot give them something tech related.

Christmas is especially hard in this regard since at this time of the year we have to get gifts for everyone, including ALL the important (and somewhat important) men we know, which makes it quite tricky to find exciting gifts.

So with Christmas season fast approaching, I thought this year I'll make an extra effort to get something different for those guys in my life, so as they wouldn't be complaining about their gifts to anyone next year :-)

So first research stop - Etsy.

Here are 10 interesting (so I think) non-techy products I found that could make cool gifts for those guys in my life:

Note. There are NO affiliate links in this list.

1. Personalization seems to be a big thing now so I thought this personalized docking station for men seems like a great find.

It helps to organize those necessary items on your desk, plus it has the name of the owner, so no-one will question whose desk it is. Discover HERE

2.An engraved wooden watch.

I've been eyeing this personalized wooden watch for a while. I think it could make a great stocking stuffer on any occasion.

I like that the sellers can engrave any line you want on the watch, whether it's a quote from a film or just a personal message, which means this watch can make a great gift for any guy in your life: husband, boyfriend, brother, son, just a friend or any other guy you know.

4.Manly soaps gift set: shave soap, scrub soap and face soap.

If I ever get soap as a present, it's usually for a lady, but this box with nine 'Manly Soaps' seems like a really beautiful gift for a guy, 'an eye and nose candy' as the sellers describe it.

5.Here's another option for a personalized gift - an engraved flask.

6.Here's another opportunity to give a personalized gift - a handmade wooden tie clip.

7.If you know a guy who loves male jewelry, check out this leather wrap bracelet with a gold clasp.

It is a bit pricey, but it'll make a really classy gift for your husband, fiance or son.

8.Here's a cool gift for a cyclist or someone who likes unusual decor elements in their home - a Bicycle Wall clock.

9. If you are looking for a gift for someone who is passionate about their hobby, you can simply search Etsy 'hobby type + gifts' and you’ll find so many items to choose from, it’s insane!

For example, here's a travel mug with a funny quote for someone who loves fishing.

I find mugs with funny quotes are perfect unique gifts for those you don’t know very well or co-workers. Plus they are really practical - everyone drinks tea or coffee!

10. Looking for a special handmade item?

Have a look at these Handmade Leather Driving Gloves HERE

This is a fancier gift and is something you’d get for a special man in your life, especially if he is a bit of a dandy (only kidding!). He’ll love these!

If you decide to buy something off Etsy, remember that many of the items there are made to order, which means they are not shipped straight away. So November might be the best month to do shop, in order to avoid delays!

Now I wonder what men think about this list... So I'll just ask:
Guys, do you think there are some good ideas here, or would you rather get something entirely different? Let me know!

Next place I'll be doing my research on is Amazon, let's see what I can find there!

Get some original gifts this year, enjoy your life!

Thanks so much for the feature as well!!! It's really encouraging!

really nice options @vliet, if I want to give my man (my husband) a gift, I should know what he likes the best, option number 9 would be perfect for him because he likse my coffee and he wants to bring it anywhere he goes and maybe a set of new tools for wood crafting too.

I found your post through @delishtreats entry post in the pay it forward contest this week and Thanks for this inspiring articles too.

Many thanks @cicisaja for stopping by and commenting. Definitely, knowing what he likes, is the key to getting a superb gift!

Thanks @delishtreats for the mention.

Hah well first of all, the guy who was complaining getting only shitty presents isn't worth any better IMO. At the end of the day, the present is just the reminder that someone cares for us. Dunno...I know the feeling when presents are shit (my grannie is best at this :D) but I never complain. Especiall not mentioning the price of my awesome giftsI've bought...

Hah now I wanted to write which of those would I want..and honestly...hardly any hahah :D These are all for the adults grown up classy men. I wear skinny jeans covering just half of my butt and hoodies :D I'd take soaps tho!

Came thanks to @delishtreats :)

Oh dear, so in your world, these are shitty gifts too...
I suppose it all depends on who we are getting the gifts for, can't please everyone...
Glad to hear you'd take the soaps though :D

Thanks @delishtreats for sharing!

Hah yepp...sadly, there are more of them than I'd like to haha :D the worst thing is actually not getting the bad gift but the fact that you store it then for years without using it..and it didnt even have to be manufactured in such scenario :)

It's true, there's so much unnecessary gift-giving.
I've heard in some families they just agree not to exchange any gifts at all, they just get together and have a good time. Not a bad idea, I'd say :)

Yepp I do the same with my little sis @zzuzza :) It was her idea and I liked it..altho not sure if the idea didn't come up cuz she doesn't have money haha :D

Money or no money, at least everyone can enjoy the holidays without the stress of shopping :-)

Hah true that :))

Interesting post. Lots of good ideas.

I found your post from @delishtreats' pay it forward curation contest entry for this week. Keep up the great work!

Thanks @delishtreats for sharing!

very nice post... I bet your family loves when they see something wrapped from you :D

Thanks @davemccoy !
Well, I've got enough experience in getting people unimaginative gifts too :D am trying to change that :D

Great list you have here. I really like 3, 4 and 8 :) I may use 3 for a friend, and 4 for my mom :D

P.S. I found your post through @delishtreats entry post in the pay it forward contest this week.

Cheers!

Many thanks @insight-out for stopping by! Glad to hear you've found some of the gift ideas useful :D

Thanks to @delishtreats for sharing!

You do things when the opportunities come along. I've had periods in my life when I've had a bundle of ideas come along, and I've had long dry spells. If I get an idea next week, I'll do something. If not, I won't do a damn thing.
