What a pretty picture! I didn't know chayote had those sweet prickles. Are they actually pretty pokey? Beyond knowing Chayote is delicious, i am afraid i can not help unfortunately. I was introduced to this veggie when i was in Costa Rica. It was made into tiny cubes and cooked into a delicious milky broth. It was so good!!
