How to Make Hacker Proof Passwords ๐Ÿ”’๐Ÿ”’๐Ÿ”’ SUPER easy FORMULA

in #security โ€ข 7 years ago (edited)

As you are an online person or interested in crypto currency, You should be very careful about your passwords. You and only you are responsible for your safety and security.

As you are a crypto investor, You may have a digital wallet. You should keep your wallet safe and secure. When money is gone, it is gone. When somebody has access to your password and private key, everything is gone faster than the speed of light. So you have to have a strong password which is difficult to guess or hack.

These are the common rules to create strong passwords:

  1. Use at least 12 characters
  2. Use uppercase and lowercase letters
  3. Use Numbers and symbols
  4. Avoid using dictionary words.
  5. Do not use personal information to create password

This is the simple rules every expert or website suggest you. But there is another way you can create strong passwords through passphrase. The passphrase is a combination of words which is quite long.for example:

mybestfreiendbirthdayisondecember31

See, this is very simple to remember and quite long. You can make it more secure by adding uppercase, lowercase and special characters

mybestfreiendbirthdayisonDecember31
mybestfreiendbirthdayison@ecember31
#mybestfreiendbirthdayison@ecember31

If you don't want to do this by yourself, you can use password manager. There are numbers of applications out there to help you. You may use LastPass or whatever you feel safe and secure.

Bonus tricks to create strong password and keep you safe

  • do not use same password for every website you visit
  • Do not visit phishing websites
  • Keep your eye on password-capturing malware

What do you think about this process of creating passwords? I Think you also have a better idea to create strong passwords. Can you please share with us in a comment.

Thanks

You are welcome

Thanks for the post. I wrote down the wrong bloody private key and now I have lost 22 NEO, I can see it in the blockchain, but can never ever get access to it.

Just buy 2 simple cheap flash drives. Create some excel file on it. And write all passwords and keys in it.
Make copy to second flash drive. Don't do ALL what you was read in Internet. If you will write this by pencil on your paper, one day you lose it. Because all people make mistakes. Copy&paste method never make mistakes.

Sorry to hear your story @michaelwilshaw
It would be even more painful if neo become more expansive.
Anyway what you can do now.
For longer private key, I use a formula. At first I write all letters from left to right then again write it down right to left and cross check again if they match each other. You may follow this rules. I hope next time you will not lose any crypto.

Another great password manager is KeePass, unfortunately is only available for windows and android, no linux. It have an embedded password generator, that permit you to choose the length and what kind of characters use (upper / lower / numbers / special char etc.) I use it by almost 7 - 8 years, and is a great tool, you only need to remember one password to unlock it, and the program give you access to all your password, and other info you can memorize in it, in an encrypted file that depends from the password you choose to lock it. Have also a built in feature to type (with a modifiable syntax) using CTRL+v your user, and password on the site / program / application, you need to unlock, emulating the typing of the keyboard, it clear the copy buffer also if you use it for copy and paste, and have a method of obfuscation of the characters it sends to the browser/program, to have another chance more to bypass eventually keylogger that malware could install on the machine.

Thank you @cesmak for your detailed message. I didn't know about keepass. I know it from your reply. I will try this one. Thank you once again for your help. Respect from @steemero

I Used just a phrase like this

You may use same passwords for all. But there is always a risk. You may choose different passwords for extremely important websites when money is involved. Thanks for your reply @roberto321
