The Second Amendment Is Important

in #security8 years ago

Will gun control make cities, in the United States of America, safer? Very powerful and influential people today, like Michael Bloomberg and Sen. Dianne Feinstein, say that removing or infringing upon the second amendment will make the United States a safer place to live. However, this is not the case, and there is both statistical evidence and real life examples that prove that gun control laws do not work. The second amendment should not be removed nor should more gun control laws be passed because it is illegal, gun control contributes to higher crime, and violent crime is low where guns are prevalent.

Gun control laws are simply illegal. The second amendment in the Constitution of the Unites States Constitution declares, "A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a Free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.“ Since gun control laws, like the micro-stamping law and “no-issue” stance on concealed carry permits, by nature infringe upon the people’s right to keep and bear arms. This is a slippery slope, which has led to the infringement of other constitutional rights. For example, a curtailing of the 1st amendment can be seen with the establishment of “Free Speech Zones”; and the “Patriot Act” has trampled the 4th amendment on for the last 14 years. Americans have the right to keep and bear arms without that right being infringed upon. However, if one chooses not to exercise that right that is perfectly fine, but they must respect the right of the individuals that do.

As of today what are we doing about the problem? Everyday a new shooting with multiple casualties however, we have these big influential people scream for more gun control but, have armed security protecting them. On December 2, 2015 14 people were killed and 22 were injured in a Islamic inspired terrorist attack at the Inland Regional Center in San Bernardino, California. Masked gunman entered the building and begins firing multiple shots at pedestrians, with nothing to protect them, civilians were forced to hide in hopes the gunman would not find them. California one the strictest states on gun laws, home of the ten round magazine and the bullet button; weren’t these laws supposed to protect them.

The Second Amendment and its entirety are important to ever American who has a love one to protect. From a biblical stand point Jesus said “When I sent you out with no moneybag or knapsack or sandals, did you lack anything?” They said, “Nothing.” He said to them, “But now let the one who has a moneybag take it, and likewise a knapsack. And let the one who has no sword sell his cloak and buy one. For I tell you that this Scripture must be fulfilled in me: ‘And he was numbered with the transgressors.’ For what is written about me has its fulfillment.” And they said, “Look, Lord, here are two swords.” And he said to them, “It is enough”(Luke 22:35-38 New American Standard). It is important to even Jesus that we can protect ourselves.

Those persons that are not in support of the second amendment and make it their mission for strict gun laws are upper class people who can pay for protection and don’t necessarily need to purchase or own a firearm. Individuals like millionaire Michael Bloomberg wasted millions of his own personal money because he hates the second amendment and anyone who supports it.  Potential solutions to this problem are simple if you chose to own or not own a firearm that is your personal choice granted to you by the founding fathers of the constitution. The evidence is on televisions screens across the country, like the terrorist attack on Paris. On average it takes about 15 minutes for police to respond to a 911 call, when it only takes a second for you to draw your weapon and stop the threat.

Moreover, Iceland is one the safest places on earth and virtually every Icelander owns a firearm. Although they are for hunting and for other sporting purposes, a criminal must think twice before committing a harmful act when 90% percent of the population is armed. This is evident with only four shooting deaths in one year. The numbers speaks for them. Iceland is a living contradiction to what gun control advocates preach. Switzerland would be another living example of high gun ownership-low crime. Upper class individuals seem to contradict themselves on gun ownership when it just seems to be a lack of education on the firearm itself. Firearms are made of metal and plastic and don’t shoot themselves. Education on firearm safety and mechanics could be another solution to an overwhelming number of people who have no clue how it works.

One last solution would be to make the laws how the founding fathers would like them to be, and that would be no restriction on firearms and how they are to be carried. Its time for Americans to take back their country, no more living in fear of going to work and not being able to return home to your family. The senseless killings of innocent civilians in a movie theater watching a movie is leaving a bitter taste the mouths of law –abiding citizens. Criminals don’t go down to the local gun store to purchase firearms; they obtain them illegally. Putting constant stress and restrictions on the individuals who aren’t a threat to society or themselves does nothing to protect America. Limiting the term in which congress can serve and corporation being able to give political contributions “bribes” will also help. This keeps the corruption out and keeps honesty in and individuals out who are there for their own financial gain.

America is the land of the free, home of the brave. Americans need to restore this country to the once super power it was. The United States government is over spending in the defense budget, however trying to disarm its citizens at the same time. Education on the second amendment and firearms is the key to success. This topic of stricter gun laws is ridiculous and is pointless, the concern needs to be on the economy and jobs. The government needs to spend less time on the things of no statue and more concern on our debt and restoring this country.
