Gozo Trip - Beach Day 3
Hondoq and Pasta
My Gozo series of posts seems to have gotten interrupted by autumn and grandchildren but let's start again from where I left off.
Day 3, dawned bright and warm so we packed up our stuff and headed to the beach at Hondoq.
My how this has changed over the last few years.
When we first visited there was nothing there but one snack shack. You can see it in the background of the first photograph.
Now there are lifeguards, sunbeds and umbrellas for hire and a bouyed off area for swimming (I'm guessing European Union requirements) and lots and lots of little boats all coming for a shufty.

The beach is a bit odd in that there are loads of large sandstone boulders on it and I've never really understood why they don't remove them as it seriously reduces the space.
Add to that, that the day we went there there was a lot of seaweed and not much sand to lie on, so we decided to go around the corner a bit and found a place to set up camp, on the rocks.
Gozo has lots of ladders you can enter the sea from which I really enjoy.
The view from my beach towel looking ahead towards the Island of Comino
I have yet to visit Comino, which is a bird sanctuary and nature reserve but hopefully I will get around to it one day.
Comino . . . is a small island of the Maltese archipelago between the islands of Malta and Gozo in the Mediterranean Sea, measuring 3.5 square kilometres (1.4 sq mi) in area. Named after the cumin seed that once flourished in the Maltese islands, the island is the least densely populated area in the Republic of Malta. It has a permanent population of only three residents, following the death of the fourth resident in 2017.

We had such a lovely day on our rocky beach, playing cards, sunbathing and swimming.
For dinner we decided to stay at the villa and cooked pasta as my daughter, who'd had a sore throat before we'd left the UK was feeling more and more ill. She went to bed early, followed not that long afterwards by the rest of us. 😁

That looks amazing! I'd love to take a swim over there... and maybe a few dives, if there's a safe place to do it. :-)
Amazing scenery! Thanks for the photos!
Thanks @trincowski.
Gozo is one of the top dive spots in Europe. At least that's what I've been told.
There's a lot of wreck diving to be had apparently.
Definitely worth a visit, especially if you dive.
But now I realise you were probably talking about diving into the sea. There's a lot of that too. Lots of safe spots all over the island. 😁
Yes, I was. Ehehe. 😁
Nice
