The Six Isles Scotch Whisky Review

in #scotch8 years ago (edited)

Of all the blended whiskies I have tried thus far, this one is now on the very top of my list.

The Six Isles is a blend of single malts from each of the six Scottish Isles well-known for producing single malt expressions. You can check out the age statement, bottling date, and filter style right on the bottle. At 46% abv, this blend is a fairly heavy hitter, just the way we like it!

I was expecting something somewhat bland, run-of-the-mill, and...well...blended. As often is the case in these tastings, however, I was pleasantly surprised.

Let's dive in.

Nose.

Cinnamon, raisins, and caramel candy impression followed abrupty by the marked arrival of peat smoke, menthol, toasted marshmallows, spices and malt.

Body

Much like the nose, an immediate caramel malted attack, raisins, black licorice, and toasted marshmallow is immediately supported by strong, smoky peat flavors. Hints of stewed fruits, candies, sweet malt and damp wheat grass, swirl in the background met with and married to oak spices, cinnamon, and smoke.

In a word complex.

Finish.

Lingering smoke, cinnamon, spices.

All in all just a beautiful blended Scotch perfect for a cozy winter's night in the house, or out at the pub with friends. This, like the Bowmore 12 Year, is a sociable whisky.

Final Rating: 4/5 Stars

Thanks for joining me once again, lads and lasses! If you missed the previous review you can find it here.
