Here's another great Gibson piece. The Difference Engine was Gibson's fourth novel, written with science fiction author Bruce Sterling and published in 1990. It's an alternate history novel that takes place in a Victorian England where great technological and social change has taken place after an entrepreneurial inventor creates a mechanical computer. It is widely regarded as the novel which established the conventions of steampunk, and was nominated for the British Science Fiction Award, the Nebula Award for Best Novel, John W. Campbell Memorial Award, and the Prix Aurora Award.
