The Second Book of the Alienbutt Saga. The Rise of Mr Fluffy. Part 94.

THE BIT AFTER THE END, THE WHAT'S IT.

The robot Kirk stood in front of the void. Behind him, behind the safety line, stood Frank and a number of other Ick scientists. It was Kirk’s job to walk up to the void and then fire the bottle launcher into it, a daily job that filled him with a sense of importance. The truth was no one was sure of the effects of coming close to the void, so to save any future health problems, Kirk was the perfect choice. After shooting through the bottle Kirk stood and scanned the void, looking for any variations as instructed. Suddenly he picked up a change. Instead of nothingness he detected a series of chemicals in the void. Quickly he spun the top part of his body around and a small hatch on his chest opened from which he fired a small grappling hook that wrapped around a support strut for the void platform. Spinning his torso back around he dived forward and disappeared through the void.
Frank looked on in shock at the robot’s actions, the other scientists equally baffled. The four marines stationed on the platform brought their weapons to bear and began to advance. Frank finally got over his shock and pushed a scientist out of the way to view the screen that was monitoring Kirk’s scan. Quickly he came back to his own computer and began to type rapidly on the keyboard, ignoring the commotion that began around him as the Ick scientists began to question each other over what they had just seen the robot do. For some reason, when a science experiment didn’t go to plan, all the scientists involved began to first cover their own backs and then work out a theory to sound as if they expected the unexpected turn in events.

Kirk fell through the void and then hit gravity again and landed on something soft. After a split second his robotic eye rebooted and he recognised the soft gasping object.
“Commander Alienbutt, it is you!” he said in his excited version of his monotone voice.
“Kirk,” Alienbutt gasped, trying to get his breath back.
“You wouldn’t believe what’s been going on since we left you,” Kirk said, rolling back off Alienbutt and landing on his feet.
“Later, cut the chains now before this whole place blows to Sung’s anus,” Alienbutt said desperately, looking at his wrist-com that now had the light blinking a fast red colour.
One of Kirk’s fingers tips flipped back and a small laser cutter appeared. Kirk quickly cut through the chain holding Alienbutt’s hand and then he began to toddle down to Alienbutt’s feet.
“Did you hear Federal Entertainment One cancelled the Star Trek reruns? It’s a good job I recorded them all, or the marines would be devastated. Those marines are such nice people; they love my film shows,” Kirk said, cutting the chain at his feet. “We should be back in time for my showing of the new season of Star Trek Kirk’s legacy. I know Kirk’s played by an android, but...”
Alienbutt jumped down from the altar and quickly snatched the amulet from around Lucifus’s neck and placed it back around his neck. Picking up Kirk he ran towards the void.
“Shut up and get us out of here. Rewind your cable now,” he screamed as a loud rumbling began off in the distance and the inner sanctum of the temple began to shake. Kirk for once did as he was told without talking about it, and Alienbutt was pulled off his feet and dragged into the grey void as Kirk’s line began to retract.
