Anatomy of Aphasia
On the present topic is about Aphasia, Aphasia is a speech/language disorder that happens when you have Brain damage. Just as we were instructed in science class that the cerebrum which is the brain has two halves/parts. The language skills are in the left part/half of the brain . Any damage happened in that Side will probably prompt language problems. The other side of the cerebrum is for memory (retentive) and so forth and any damage done in it could cause poor attention or memory.

This disorder is commonly known among the older/aged people, especially those who have had stroke. It impede's a person's capacity to use and understand words. Be that as it may. It does not hinder the person's intelligence. People with Aphasia find it hard to speak, understand speech or read and write. It does not make one less smart or cause problems with the way you think. People who have this disorder may experience issues in finding the correct word to finish their thoughts/sentences.

Types of Aphasia:

  • Global Aphasia: it is the most severe type of Aphasia and is connected to patients who can create couple of unmistakable words and understand practically no spoken language.

  • Mixed Transcortical Aphasia: can also be known as the isolation syndrome. It is a mix of two transcortical Aphasia where both reception and expression are severely impaired, yet reiteration/repetition remains intact.

  • Conduction Aphasia: is a language disorder described by selective deformity or oral reiteration/repetition of words or sentences in the present relative preservation of auditory comprehension.

  • Brocas Aphasia: It is also known as non-fluent Aphasia. Speech is effortful and sounds fairly stilted, with most utterances constrained to 4words or less. People who suffer this mostly depend on important key words (nouns and verbs) to communicate their message.

  • Wernicke's Aphasia: It is a type of Aphasia the capacity/ability to grasp the importance of spoken words and sentences is impeded/impaired while the ease of delivering connected speech is not influenced/affected. Wernicke's Aphasia was named after a German neurologist carl wernicke who first related this specific types of speech deficit to a damage in a left posterior temporal area of the brain.

  • Anomic Aphasia: it is a mild prominent difficulty being In word finding with the patient using generic fillers in utterances, such as non specific noun and pronouns.

  • Motor Transcortical Aphasia: it is the inability to speak or to organize the muscular movement of speech.

  • Transcortical sensory Aphasia: the inability to understand spoken , written or tactile speech symbols that results from damage (as by brain lesion) to an area of the brain (as wernicke's area) concerned with language.
